There were more accidents on building sites in the UK last year than in the previous year-Despite this excuse for a government passing mind numbing employment legislation that only makes sense to the most jobsworth Health and Safety geeks. These people are causing more problems than they will ever have the brain cells to solve. We must repeal lots of the legislation or become a third world industrial nation!!

YES!!!

I am the ISO coordinator for my place of employment. I work directly with our safety engineer (we are 18001 certified...Occupation Health and Safety).

You wouldn't believe some of the dumb things people do. We have several systems in place to prevent incidents, but for some reason people do not want to follow them.

It's amazing!

I don't think so. It would be nice if you had your facts straight before making claims like yours. Many people in here might think you are telling the truth!

EXEMPTIONS

Some types of on-the-job injuries may not merit workers’ compensation insurance benefits. These include:

• Self-inflicted injuries (such as those incurred if two employees were fighting
• Injuries incurred while an employee was breaking the law (i.e. a delivery worker robbing a receptionist at one of his sites)
• Injuries incurred while the employee was not working
• Injuries incurred while the employee was violating company policy

In addition, some workers are excluded from receiving workers’ compensation insurance benefits. These workers include: shop owners, farm workers, railroad employees, maritime workers, volunteers, and independent contractors. To verify whether or not you are eligible for workers’ compensation, speak to your employer and consult one of the personal injury attorneys in your area who specializes in workers’ compensation laws.
