My dad left his old projector to me and I have a box full of reel to reel movies that are 30+ yrs old that I would love to watch. I set it all up last night and everything works except it will not run forward, only reverse. Is this something I can fix? Or does anyone know where I could take it to get it fixed?

Hello,

I am a small film collector, and I am a part of a film collecting online community: http://www.16mmfilmtalk.com

You can join this forum for free, and the guys on there DEFENATLY know what they are talking about, they could help you with your problem!!!

But if you don't want to go through the trouble of joining the forum if you are not really interested in film projecting, I suggest talking to Mr. Larry Urbanski http://www.urbanskifilm.com I believe his e-mail address is: larry@urbanskifilm.com I am almost positive he can help you out with your problem.

Also, if you can't seem to find an answer to your problem, I would still suggest joining the forum, because if you are interested in fixing it, there are guys on there who provide such services, or if you are interested in buying another one, there are people on there who list ones for sale.

I would try looking inside the projector to see if everything is functioning correctly. Check all levers, switches, belts, and clutches, etc... it may be something you can fix no problem...

I hope this helps you :-)

Not to be insulting, but check again to see if there is a separate reversing switch for the motor. If it's not there, look inside and try to find a switch that is being pressed when you activate the forward control. Are all the wires connected at both ends? If it's a push-button switch, make sure it goes in far enough to activate the motor. Is there is a separate reverse switch? You may be able to swap switches. Old film is brittle, and all it takes is a couple torn sprocket holes to tear up a film, so you may want to visit your local photo shop where you can get cleaner-lubricant for film as well as splicing tape. Best wishes!

there are various agencies which will pass them to VHS or DVD for you via digital imaging. come across a commercial service that handles the conversion--you purely deliver the enterprise your action pictures. it is probable the least puzzling answer. agencies like digital pass structures and homestead action picture Depot will do it for you, charging around 10 cents a foot. As great 8mm action picture runs at 15 ft according to minute, it quite is around $a million.50 according to minute.
