Its been almost 2 years since I joyfully gave up my small bedroom to my son in return for the master bedroom. I FINALLY got a bed after two years of sleeping on the living room couch and now I'm ready to beautify my newly painted and newly furnished room.
MY QUESIONS IS....
I have all kinds of magnets and magnetic things I want to use somewhere in my room but I have no idea how to incorporate a piece of metal generous enough so that my awsome magnets are noticable...
What can I put in my Bright Green room thats metal but not trashy looking???

Check out TROPHY shops. They have thin metal sheets of all types. You can go in and tell them what you want to do and say, "anything kinda cheap?"

If you want to go EXTRA cheap then get with a carpenter or people around your neighborhood and say, "any old SAW BLADES? or "Cookie Sheets?" And you can spray paint them in all different wild ways. Dripping, splatters, etc. They look great, “I’ve done that.”

Make a wood frame and attach all the cookie sheets together.

I work at a design studio and we have a 1 foot tall metal sheet running length wise about 4 feet up in most of the rooms in the studio. the sheet runs the entire length of the walls almost like a border in the middle of the wall. It's framed on top and bottom by trim work, but it's exposed brushed metal. We use it to hang notes, display artwork, put up photos whatever, and it's very modern, but really cool and useful.

How about a mirror with a metal frame? You get two uses for the price of one and everyone who looks at themself in the mirror for any purpose will also get to enjoy your magnets. Also, try framing some of your son's artwork in dollar store frames made of metal and you can enjoy both his art and your magnets inexpensively.

Find a local sheet metal supplier. They can cut you any size you like (within reason). Make it thin and glue it to the wall. Frame it with doorframe trim or window casing trim. Wash it with varsol on a rag, prime it and paint it whatever colour you like... voila, steel wall... monster magnet home.

`Most paint stores sell magnetic paint. It's kind of expensive, but it works well. Just do one wall, or an area of a wall where you want the magnetism. then paint over it to match the rest of the wall.
