I think they did... Although it may not fall into the consistent barrel that they preach about, the call was right. What good would throwing the yellow do? The wreck was already happening, and the cars werent going to be coming back around where there could of been a bigger problem. They let the 2 decide it on the track. Martin didnt lose that race because of NASCAR's call.. Martin lost that race because Harvick had a run from hell, and then Kyle Busch spun and Martin lost his push.. Harvicks run on the high side was enough to let him squeeze by @ the right time. As much as I wanted to see Martin win that race.. NASCAR did it right. They should always get to race back to the line, but ONLY ON THE LAST LAP...

I've been wondering about this too. It seems like in the past NASCAR officials have thrown the yellow on a final lap. Regardless of who won the race, the yellow flag would have allowed those drivers caught behind the accident to regain their positions and points. Whatever the call NASCAR should and usually does stay consistent.
Another thing I was wondering: Do you have permission to be using the HMS logo? AND - Check your e-mail. You'll find one from me!

Yeah thats about right. Except in the Daytona summer race of 2004-05 . Where Jeff won. The accident was behing him and Dale jr and NASCAR froze the field and Gordon won over Dale Jr. NASCAR made the rule that you don't race back to the line when there's a wreck, but apparently that only works when they want it to. The caution should have been thrown and if Kevin Harvick was leading when the lights come on then so be it. He wins, end of story. But the fact that the caution flag didn't come out and NASCAR let them race back to the line when they have a rule that was put in place to keep drivers from doing exactly that is wrong and they have clearly pissed some people off.

I like both Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick, but I wish NASCAR would just stick to their rulebook that they have made.

This question is rather hard to answer I do like Happy Harvick and I have a ton of respect for Mark Martin. But according to what the announcers said during the red flag was that it would be a green, white, checker finish and that if the caution came out again the field would be frozen and the race would be over. If they had thrown the caution when the Kyle Busch started spinning and frozen the field like they were supposed to Mark Martin would have won that race. I know that everyone is going to have their opinion but after all the contoversy this weekend then NASCAR needs to start showing some consistency and in this case they didn't.

I like Martin and I like Harvick, and love Nascar, and was also at the race. The point is Nascar made a rule and did not follow it. That's it. The rule is still retarded because at what exact second do you throw out the caution? The rule should have never been put into effect, but since it has, Nascar should follow it. In that case, freeze the field. Also, they made that rule for safety, so they can get to the wreck faster with an ambulance, so instead of that too, they had Clint Boywer on his roof getting hit left and right with cars, and on fire. The whole end was insane, and we will never know who actually won the race.

I will agree with you on this one, Martin is the fan favorite, but Harvick had the momentum. NASCAR seems to race back to the line on the last lap when the wreck occurs in the final half of the final lap of the race(except the Pepsi 400 last year, even though I wanted Tony to win, they should've raced bak, it was only debris), and I agree with it, yesterday's race was perfect for that, and we got an amazing photo finish.
Some people say that it's dangerous to do that, but the caution doesn't do much, since it doesnt really stop the cars from wrecking.

Kevin Harvick still could of won it even if they had thrown the caution and out and I think it depends on what NASCAR wants to do maybe their was some different official who made the call or something but I dont think it matters as the race is over and teh results are final and people are mad but people are mad with any decision that NASCAR makes or whoever wins the race people are usually mad. I think that it was a great last lap.

Martin did not hit the brakes a bit until well after he crossed the start/finish line. I like Martin, but look at it - he lost the race fair and even. His car was not as fast as the 29. All that matters is who wins. Second place is not where you want to be. So we got just what we wanted as fans, a race for first place. Everything else does not matter. It did not distract those two drivers in the lead.

Like maximum folk, i'm better than happy to work out Mcmurray pull it off. it relatively is a huge start to possibly a reasonably huge season for him. Jr's run grow to be great. I too am prepared on his and desire to work out him do nicely this year. He actually got here out of nowhere in that lap. i certainly concept he grow to be going to get Jamie unfastened on the strategies-blowing turns and get below him yet hi, i won't be able to ***** through somebody like Jamie winning. Now, if that have been Gordon or between the Busch bros up front i does not be too happy extraordinary now.

I agree although I think a lot of people were pullin for Mark in the end there. I wonder if Martin feathered the break just a little bit because he thought It was gunna be a yellow. I think it was definatly the right call though.

I thought is was a GREAT decision to let the two of them race to the finish line... I created one of the best Daytona's in recent history, and that would of all been lost if they threw the yellow flag before those two finished... I personnally wanted Martin to finally take it, but what a race.
