Whenever I try accessing windows task manager by hitting 'cntrl, alt & del' I always get an error. An error report is always created which i always send to Microsoft.

Does anyone know of any reasoning to why this may be happeneing? also any information on how i can solve this little problem?

thanks.

Have just run a virus scan, nothing detected! Have looked at both the websites posted however my detailed technical knowledge is not vast enough to follow what im doing. I also dont really want to have to be downloading things like that and leaving them in my system.

As for the system restore, is it necessary to turn it off? as this will lose of all my current restore points will it not?

Sounds odd - you might want to check for viruses first. Also have a look at this site and scroll down to "task manager":

If its a virus you may need to switch off system restore and scan in safe mode.

Switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Like the others said, it's probaly a virus. Try right-clicking the time (on the bottom right part of the screen) and select Task Manager.

Some viruses can disable Task Manager - run a scan with your antivirus software

If its a virulent disease you would be able to could exchange off device fix and test in risk-free mode. swap off device fix as lower back up records would be hiding in there, and it will only fix itself. bypass to start - courses - upload-ons - device techniques - device fix. Run your anti virus in risk-free Mode. To get into risk-free Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios reveal plenty yet in the past domicile windows plenty. you will know in case you made it because of the fact the reveal would be at 800 x 600 and your computing device would be sluggish.
