Nothing from Microsoft is free, you can update your computer at the Microsoft website but the software itself can be updated by you buying it ast the store and installing it! Home edition just means less expensive!

No, it is not free.
Microsoft only gives things away when they want to get people addicted to it.
Like the tobacco companies used to give away free packs of cigarettes during promotionals.
There is absolutely no distinguishable difference between Microsoft and Big Tobacco.

It should be free...it is a terrible product. switch to a mac if ¥ou can.
