This is totally a matter of opinion. Some people don't like cats but others love them. It is the same with dogs. I would suggest researching breeds of dogs on the internet before making a decision. I had a cat for 17 years. Now that I am married my husband is a dog person. We've had German Shephard Dogs, Austrailian Shepards, as a child I had Golden Retrivers and now we have Miniature Schnauzers. We realize this breed works best with our lifestyle right now. Cats are good if you travel or work a lot and don't have time to walk a dog. They usually don't require much attention such as dogs do.

Dog - Average price for a purchae is about $250 but can vary depending on the breed. Dogs are very playful throughout both being a puppy and a full grown dog. Not to mention adorable. Dogs are rumored to have a 6th sense. If your paranoid or spiritually aware this may come on benefit to you. When your sad they always are there to cheer you up, in time you will come to notice this. Training them as a puppy is both fustrating but a worthwhile experience (mostly potty training them). All dogs come from the wolf species whom long past humas associated with for hunting and protection. They have the ability to determine what is righ and wrong even without speaking. You could teach your dog to sit and stay without speaking. Depending on the size of the dog your going to run a food bill so make sure to get big bags of dry food, wet food will really cost you, only use it for a treat. One last word of advice, get the dog accustomed to small children and people or it will be protective and dont give it table scraps ;) you'll regret it.

Cat - Cats are very playful and humerous as kittens but are unable to determine our feelings. They will seek your compainship as they please and can be quite mean randomly. Cats are very agile and may amaze you, but will amaze you more when they steal your dinner. The cats cannot be trained easily not to meow all night which may bug you if thats their habit. Cleaning the litterbox will be highly annoying and finding small mice from outside dead inside. Wet cat food is for the most part your only real nutricious source which is going to run you alot.

Overall - I would take a dog.

Dogs you can take them out and they love you to the core! But my moms cat is older then I am. Im 18 and the cat is 19... If you want an almost life long companion then cat. If you want a loyal pet that needs you then a dog.

I have both, and while I really love them both, my cat is far easier to take care of...just a litter box and there's no mess! On the other hand, cats keep to themselves, and don't interact with you as much as a dog would, so if you want a playmate, a dog would be the answer. There are a lot of pros and cons...you really need to decide what your home can accommodate...depending on the type of dog, they need a lot of room to run and play. Cats are pretty content in the house sitting in a window. Go with your gut feeling when making your choice. Good luck!

Get a dog because dogs are more better to be with.Dogs are loyal and they will love you and they are really fun to take care of.See cats they like to jump and look out the window but there's no point of getting a cat because it won't play with you a lot.I hope this answer will help you...

Get a chihuahua. They are like half cat and half dog. I always wanted a cat but am allergic so I got a chihuahua and now I have the best of both worlds. Cats tend to smell your house from the litter box anyway. Dogs are more happier to see you and more fun to play with. Some cats can be stubborn and boring.

I personally like cats better then dogs because cats could be trained to use the liter box so you won't have to take them outside and if they did go outside they could go free and dogs usually cause fights with otherdogs or growl at other people and if you don't want this then you use a leash. I just like cats better but it's really one's preference. Also you can leave cats at home when you go on trips and just leave plenty of food and water out for them as for dogs you always have to have someone come and feed them and check up on them. I think Cats are easier to take care of but it's one's preference like I said before and you have to look at your lifestyle and see which one fits into it.

i think that is more of a personal preference. some people cant stand dogs & some cant stand cats. my personal prefrance is a cat because they are lower maintenance than a dog. you don't have to bathe them once a week so they don't smell. potty training is much easier show a cat a litter box & they know what to do with it, not months of potty training. oh well im sure you'll get plenty of opinions on this matter. i guess its "the truth about cats & dogs"

if you have time to house train a dog, and are going to be home enough to take it outside to potty, and go for walks everyday, then a dog is better. they're much more loving and loyal. if you don't have the time, cats will work better. they learn quickly what the litter box is for, and don't require you to be home several times a day to take care of them. they're not as loving and loyal as dogs.... most cats only want to be petted when THEY want to be petted. a dog's always happy to get some love and attention.
