I have been studying Tantric Philosophy of Yogic practice.?

Question

I am very attracted to Yoga and its spiritual practices. However, i have yet to find a place around me that takes yoga this seriously. Is there anyway i can find myself a personal yogic instructor, or even TEacher (guru) to help me. I want to take this to another level.

Some of the various serious websites on Hinduism's approach to yoga should provide resources that are either local to you or places you can go on retreats, or even Hindu websites might help.

As a Tibetan Buddhist I only took a peek at yoga, since we don't focus mainly on it as an exercise, and only delve into Tantra when we've achieved a certain level of understanding and calm. I wish you success in your hunt though... I did notice there were a lot of sites that take that stuff quite seriously. It may be that you have to have some online resources to help you along until you can take a vacation for a retreat or such. Good luck.

Good luck in America. Good luck anywhere finding a "teacher" who is A) not a complete fraud, and B) willing to teach what he actually knows. It never hurts to do as much of your own research as possible so that you have somewhat of an idea when you're being sold a bill of goods, although naturally the same remarks apply to books. "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" says St Paul, and in this case he actually makes sense. If you're earnest enough in your seeking, and intelligent enough to tell Shinola from the alternative, the gods will eventually send you a teacher capable of assisting you to the Next Step.

keep searching, things that are good will come to you, but beware the imposter's that flair their placebo intelligence by spouting false hoods to the listeners.
