The answer may differ depending on which Church you are referring to. The Roman Catholic Church as they have said does not allow divorce and abortion. As they have said abortion is murder or killing another person. Divorce is also not allowed because what God has put together let no man separate. You may refer to the Catechism of the Catholic Church for further details on this. I think the Catholic Church is the most dependable resource when it comes to faith and morals because it is this Church that Jesus established on earth and it has the fullness of revelation. It is to this Church that God has entrusted most of His Truths. Some Christian or Protestant Churches allow divorce, but I am not sure. But better check out the Catholic Church's teachings as they are faithful to Peter and the apostle's teachings.

The Holy Roman Catholic Church, being the Church that passes on the most accurate teachings of Christ, teaches -which Christ in fact teaches, that divorce does not exist! Marriage is a sacrament that can never be abolished. An annulment is the declaration that the marriage was invalid to start with!!! It is not Catholic Divorce as some people say.
The church teaches that abortion is a hideous crime against humanity. It is murder! Even the single cell, at the moment of fertilization, has an eternal soul, and to kill it, regardless of the reason, is plain murder. Anyone who commits abortion and the people who help in the procedure (doctors, nurses, and husband, or father of child) are equally guilty, and are automatically excommunicated and banned from receiving Holy Communion. If however they truly repent and regret what they've done, they may be granted forgiveness- not by man, but by God through his body on earth, his Church.
I hope this helps.

Hi, generally speaking the Church would be against abortion, and some would allow divorce in a very few select circumstances.
It would be a very long answer to explain so might I suggest you have a look at a few sites and study it through for yourself then you can express it in your own words.
Below are a couple of sites I could suggest
www.carm.org
www.christiananswers.net
Hope this helps

Hello lela;
The church does not encourage divorce. According to Jesus' writings the only cause for divorce was fornication. "But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery...: Matthew 5:32. Most churches will try and council couples who are having marital problems. Divorce is a very traumatic experience for both parties, especially if children are involved.
As for abortion, that can never be permitted. This is a hotly contested issue. Matters of life and death during our natural life time belongs only to the Creator. However, Scripture does allow for capital punishment and war. There are pros and cons regarding both of these subjects. Many states require a legal separation before a divorce decree is issued. This is to allow both parties a chance to cool off, and hopefully think things out before proceeding.
A good source for information would be the encyclopedia or search these subjects via your search browser. Good luck.

Hi, I'm at school too!The catholic church is entirely against Abortion and divorce. they argue that human life is sacred and that life begins at the moment of conception.the protestant church is not so strict. they are against abortion apart from when the child will be handicapped, or the mother says that she will commit suicide(or is 'mentally ill')Because of this, this has allowed for what is known as the 'Wedge arguement' by this I mean that firstly people have only been allowed to have abortions on these grounds, but now more and more exceptions creep in.Mostly because people do not want a child for inancial and social reasons. hope this helps!

If the church is RC, then they are against divorce and abortion under any circumstances, even if a woman has been raped the Catholic church feels they have the right to tell her not to have an abortion if she wants to. Henry 8th had problems with divorce and the Catholic Church so he created his own, The Church of England, which brings us nicely to them, they frown upon divorce obviously bu it is not completely unacceptable as it is in Catholocism, and Im not sure but I don't think they have stated their views on abortion. To sum up the Catholic Church is against abortion and divorce all of the time and The CofE is not as strict.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (2271): "Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as and end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law..."
More can be found within the Cathechism of the Catholic Church, which is a nicely hefty tome but it starts on page 548 and goes on if this is what you seek.

The churches view on abortion is pretty much unanimously against it. As far as I know almost all religions view abortion as wrong because they see unborn life as a creation of god and they think that to destroy it would be wrong.
As far as divorce goes, I think it is discouraged in most religions and used only as a last resort. As far as I know only the Catholic church bans divorce and you have to get permission from the pope or someone high up in the Vatican to get it.

depends on which church but mostly divorce granted but only some allow to get remarried in church. catholics dont grant annulments without bribes,i mean donations, and legitimate reasons-that would allow remarriage. But they have been granted to even people whove had kids in mariage.go figure. abortion is considered sin in most religions even premarital sex. in greek orthodox priests allowed to marry-catholics no. greek orthodox can get remarried in church after a divorce. it depends. dont know much about protestant ,anglican, or other churches. jewish would be temples. you should call a priest or rabbi and ask like an interview for school project. they are always helpful even if not your religion or do a yahoo search. good luck.

Read the Bible and figure it out yourself. I'm not trying to be a smart as#. The reason there are tons of Christian denominations out there is that everyone has a different understanding to the same texts. Some listen to others rather than learn for themselves. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom and knowledge in the things of God. I would suggestion earnest prayer & Bible study. Good luck! & God bless!
