Can you break up via email??? Gosh, I just don't think I can say it to his face or even on the phone! I know it is a cop-out but is it okay? At least I can say everything I want and don't have to deal with him butting in!

Just leave without a good bye if you're worrying him butting in.
He'll get the message. The silent one. If you write an email or letter, he will want to explain himself and then he will go looking for you.

If you really scared to talk to him in person, fine go ahead and do email but if after he read the email and ask to talk to you in person, then you have to face yourself and patience with him what he has to say about your "breakup email". Its very good idea to do email because you want to say everything without have him stop you. But you need to see him in person after you done with email. Good luck.

its the worst way. if you do it that way it can be forwarded to everyone including his friends your friends and then you'll really be messed up.
