My husband and I have been told we are unable to conceive. Does anyone out there know where we could go or what we need to do to adopt a baby?

Search adoption on the internet and the whole world pops up to you. That's what my friends did and they found a local adoption lawyer that way. Good luck to both of you! :)

Hi Melissa,
When considering adoption there are many, many things to consider. International, private, open vs. closed, foster-adopt, infant or waiting child, choosing and agency, a social worker, etc. The best thing you can do right now is tons of research at your local library, or at places like adoption.org, and chat with other parents who've been through the adoption process. I spent a year collecting as much information as possible about adoption before my husband and I made the decision about how and where to adopt. It can be a long and complicated process, but the end is most definitely worth the means.
Best of luck in your journey.

Maybe you can foster to adopt - you go to the state Child Protective Services office and inquire. After you take classes and are investigated and observed in your home, you and your husband may get lucky enough to get a baby. The bad thing is that it can be just as much as an emotional roller coaster as conceiving. Other than that, you can save some money and go to a public adoption agency or one ran through a church. Good luck, godspeed!

The first thing I would recommend is to do some research on local agencies in your area, visit them, obtain info and references and begin your journey! You will decide whether or not you want an international or domestic placement, new born, or older child etc., You will attend seminars hosted by your agency and begin your homestudy. You will learn a TON a long the way, and get ready for an emotional rollercoaster and make sure you use every bit of patience you have, you will need it.

The great part of adoption is knowing that finally, after years of struggle, you and your husband, WILL BE PARENTS. Good Luck

You have a few choices you could

1. foster then adopt. To get that information call your local Division of Family and Children (welfare office) The downside to this is you may have to lose a few before you find one that you can adopt or you could get lucky, like this one family I worked with, who's first foster child they got as an infant and was able to adopt her before her first birthday.

2. or you could just adopt. My favorite website is Rainbowkids.com There they have lots of resources for first time adopters as well as photo listings for kids available all around the world. The also offer financial help to those who qualify.

Good luck and I hope this information has helped!

You start by meeting with an Adoption Lawyer. He or she will be able to tell you what you need to do for adoption, including discussing if you want an open or closed adoption.

Why don't you start with an attorney in your area who should be able to give you real, honest answers in the first place instead of a bunch of strangers who like to screw with people on the internet.
