I just got a dachshund puppy who is also a dapple :]] You're making a good choice! Its so funny how that picture looks almost exactly like my Casey :]

And the dapple pattern is not rare, every breeder I went to (to look around and ask questions) had a hand ful of all different of dapple patterns. So they will not be hard to find.

anyway! getting caught up in the moment .. as i dont know where you live, I can give you a couple of good breeders that are good.

(I almost bought a puppy from her, shes really nice and really loves what she does)

I hope those sites help! You can even call one of them up and ask if they know other reputable breeders near you.

You are in for a real treat with a dachshund! I hope you enjoy her!

That's called Dapple in dachshunds. I'll do a quick search but then I also put in some better places.
BTW Dachshunds are divided into 3 varieties by the type of coat they have, wire, long haired or smooth. Each variety does allow for a miniature and they are shown together with the larger ones. So yes they do come in mini. They aren't as small as many toys but they are small.
I have been finding lots of ads for dapple doxie puppies, so I am going to spend a few minutes trying to get you to some I think might be better quality. Of course I am an AKC show person, so what I think is nice might be a little more costly. If you search for a long coated dapple mini I am sure you will find several also. The last link is the doxie parent club, the one above it is the national Mini club, and yes these are AKC clubs.

There is a great organization called the Dachshund Rescue of North America. They rescue doxies who then live in foster homes across the country. There is a small fee for adoption, but volunteers will drive your new family member to you. My husband and I have adopted two wonderful dachshunds from them. There are photos on the website. You could always contact them about a dapple. Here is the link:

Find a dachshund club via the AKC site & ask to be referred to breeders of mini long haired dapples.

In most countries the doxies are split into six breeds but under AKC rules they are varieties of one breed.
Avoid any litter where both parents are dapple - puppies from this mating will have health problems and it is not advised.

This is a pretty rare coloring for a dachshund. You can try your local animal shelters, but I really doubt they will have one. I think your best bet would be finding a good dachshund breeder. Someone suggested looking on ACK.org, and I also think they would be a good idea. My brother has a dachshund that looks like that, but she is Red merle. VERY pretty coloring. I have never seen anything like her. It took him a long time to find her, he had to just keep looking for different dachshund breeders. Good Luck in your search! It is a very cute puppy.

Since the AKC doesn't recognize Miniature Dachshund as a breed, their site will be of no help to you. "Mini" or "Teacup" dogs are designer breeds that cannot be registered AKC.

Do a search on Yahoo or Google for "miniature dachshund (Or State) and look for a reputable breeder in your area - Be willing to travel if you need to.

Your best bet is to go to the breeder referral on the akc.org site. This will have a link to the parent club, which should list breeders. Contact various breeders and research your options from there. Be sure you are working with a reputable breeder, as this breed is known for having some health issues and a reputable breeder will greatly reduce the risk you end up with a puppy with issues.

it all depends on where you live. The breeder that I got my two miniature dachsies from has ones like that, but we are talking about north west of edmonton, alberta. One of my dachsies is tan and black , and the other one is black and tan. Both are wire-haired, and the best dogs ever.
