ok i can tell you what i do i had really curly like afro curly hair then i got my hair relaxed with rusk 3 there are many levels depending on how curly your hair is..... i can say my hair is no long curly after 7 years of doing it....... but the downside is that its still a little dry, unmanageable at times but i have gone 7 months with out doing it i usually get the treatment done every 3-4 months when i do that my hair never has these side effects i am having now. i do recommend it but i would talk with your stylist first. there is also the japanese hair straightening stystem that i have never done sinces at little more expensive then the relaxer. the japanese straightening also takes a little longer around 6 hours depending on hair type when use my relaxer it only takes about 2. the best thing to do is do research between the to and also ask your stylist good luck

Chi flat irons are the some of the best tools out there, so it should come as no surprise that Farouk, the company who makes Chi, also has a permanent straightening system. In 1975 Japan, Japanese stylists were formulating conditioning treatments. One of the added benefits discovered by other stylists outside Japan was that these conditioners made the hair extremely straight. The Japanese really didn't know this because there isn't a true need for a straightening system in Japan! Needless to say, yes, the concept of permanent hair straightening really exists. The Chi permanent straightening system has a really low chemical concentration which makes it extra gentle (it actually works by using a negative ionic to separate water molecules for easier penetration into the hair shaft). This makes it safe for all hair types, even chemically treated ones. I've heard that it doesn't work quite as well on African-American hair in some cases. Chi also makes a set of products to use after the process. The process itself takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours. Stylists must complete additional training in order to perform this service, so make sure you stylist has that extra training! After the procedure, your hair should dry straight, even in an air-dry situation. The total cost should be around $200 in most places and touch-ups should be done every 4-6 months, depending on how fast your hair grows. Chi is better than the traditional chemical straighteners due to the added conditioners (after all, it started as a conditioning treatment). I would recommend that you ask for it by name.

Straighten solution is very strong and does harm the hair . If you want to straighten it with as little damage as possible . Go to a beauty supply store and get an ammonia permanent wave that they use for curling the hair . Instead of curling the hair what you need to do is comb the wave lotion through the hair with a fine comb don't comb the scalp just keep combing the hair and you will see it start to straighten . It will relax the hair , you follow the directions on the box for the rest of the perm which will be to rinse and then to apply the neutralizer, you must comb the hair again after you rinse it an put the neutralizer on and comb the neutralizer through the hair .

Hello,
Remember this chemically straightening your hair is the worst service you can do to your hair. It drys your hair out and causes breakage. Try one of these shampoos (from a salon) super skinny from Paul Mitchell, Smooth down from Redken. The shrink the hair and lock out moisture to make the hair flat. You can also use a ceramic straight iron with Silk results (From Joico)
thermal straightening spray this will protect the hair and make it nice and shiny. If you do decide to have it chemically straightened remember it can be costly and as your hair grows you will have to touch up the regrowth and the more you do this the more harm to your hair it will do. Always consult with a reputable stylist that specializes in hair straightening first. Look for a salon that specializes in ethnic hair they tend to have more experience in it. Good Luck

it's not permanent but you can have it straightened at a salon and it lasts about 2 months or so. kind of like a perm would be. i use A LOT of stuff to make my hair straight every just b/c it seems like waste of money to go somewhere and have them do it for me. I use a lot of john frieda products... i also bought some wonderful redken leave in conditioner from the lady that does my hair. it was $14 for a little bottle but it's worth it.. it makes it so smooth and easier to straighten.

when you permanetly straighten your hair, you end up with the problem of daily maintenance, when your hair is straightened, you cannot just wash and wear. you have to apply loads of moisture replenishing stuff. it takes hours upon hours of work to make it look good in the morning. it also isnt permanent, it stays when your hair is wet, but when ur hair grows out more it will be curly. since your hair is dry right now, it is best that you apply loads of good moisture replenishing products. like pantene or aussie. if you are in the us. if you are going to permanatley straighten your hair, make sure you do it at a reputable salon, dont do it at home, you can permanetly, as in forever, damage your hair and it will look crazy, maybe even a very VERY large afro.

hmmm... maybe not... it'll make your hair overly straight and smooth... (its not the best idea... but its the last resort)
