That would depend on how hard you're going at it, your size, weight, etc.

Assuming you're going at it hard enough that you're sweating profusely and breathing hard, 4 or 5 hours would burn calories equivalent to one pound of fat.

Don't confuse this with the water loss from sweat. That is only temporary and should be replaced by drinking water during your workout.

1 pound is about 3,500 calories. You'd need to do a LOT of stair steps to burn that many calories. There are Web sites with calorie burning charts. Try searching for them.
