The verse I always think of when someone talks about asking Jesus into your heart is Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
I think "asking Jesus into your heart" is just a phrase that is used, not a direct quote from the Bible. But each time that phrase is used, Romans 10:9 is quoted right after it, at least in every church I've attended it is.

Rev. 3:20 refers to the door of the Laodicean church ..... not the door to someone's heart. Nowhere does the text indicate it is talking about a heart.

Revelation 3 : 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
The door here is the door to your heart.
