I guess I should have mentioned that he didn't even ask me. He just assumed that I didn't want to go since I told him a while back that I didn't like dances.

First of all, Dances are a little bit different than Prom. Prom is a special event and it was totally inappropriate for him to ask someone else. You should tell him to un-ask her and if he doesnt, dump him and go with someone else.

It's true.....If you really dont like to dance you still should have accepted BECAUSE relationships are all about compromise......However, he did already ask another gal to prom and you may have just Compromised the relationship. If he does go with this new girl you will have to be understanding and tell him to have a good time, I don't think you should be ugly about it. You had a chance to accept. Did he tell you he was asking someone else or did he just do it?

It is real simple.....Get rid of him! So what if you don't dance...he should be bringing you to the prom anyway...and if it means he has to sit with you all night that so be it. If you don't want to do that you can give him a choice...either you bring me to the prom or else we are done (just be ready for the chance that he might actually choose to go with the girl and end the relationship). It is disrespectful to bring another girl to the prom.....PERIOD!

At your age and with the whole "high school sweethearts" thing, prom is like the date of all dates! Everybody knows that, and so does he. Dump him like a bag of diapers gurl! That was so shitty of him to do that to you, he might as well had slapped you in the face. You deserve better.

He may be a great guy, I don't know so I can't really say what to do about that.
I'm really sorry that he did that though. I think you should tell him how it makes you feel and just make sure where you two stand.
If she is a flirt, I would be extremely careful and maybe tell him you don't want him to go with her.

WHAT?!?!?!?! That is so shady on his part. Did he ASK you if he could take another girl first? If he did, and you consented, well....but if he didn't, then he totally just dissed you big time. If I were you, I'd go on a date with some other guy that night. NOT to prom, since you said you don't like it, but on a nice date with some other guy. You know, since your guy is busy.

I hated going to dances too, but went to prom with my boyfriend because HE wanted to go. Relationships require sacrifice. At this point, let him go with another girl if you're not willing to go, or go stag with some friends so you can still be with him. It wouldn't be fair to ask him to 'unask' the other girl, but you could still go to hang out. If it really bothers you, break up with him so you're both free to pursue someone who has more similar interests.
