The person that wants to bug your phone ..has to get into your house or on the pole next to the house where your landline is working from or so a junction box (SDC) or even better...into the Exchange from which you are working..... then he will have to put a mini recorder in parrallel with your line and every time your line switches on....outgoing or incoming call...the recorder will switch on by itself and starts recording... Inside your house is risky and so is the pole or the sdc ..people will see him. And not every one has access to Exchanges ....
The other option is to get these small-spytype-bugs that you put into or near a phone and the person sits one km or even more away and listen to every conversation you have. You even get projects on line of how to build one and the guy uses a normal FM radio and tunes into you conversation on the Mhz band.
BEst is to switch places in the house from where you make or take your calls as it is a cordless phone.....

Bugging your own phone is often legal. First, you need to check the laws in your state. In Michigan for example, you can record a phone conversation without a warrant as long as at least one of the parties involved knows about it. In Massachusetts on the other hand, I believe you need a warrant to record any conversations without a disclaimer, like the common "This call may be recorded for..." In other states, you can simply bug your own phone without warning anyone. This is how cheating husbands and wifes are often caught. You need to make sure you're recording any conversations legally. If the recording violates state law, it won't be admissible in any civil or criminal cases, which means it's useless. Assuming you;re doing this legally, your local Radio Shack will likely carry everything you need. While there are expensive kits that you plug into your phone line, your best, and cheapest bet is to get a special microphone that terminates in a suction cup. You attach the suction cup to the phone, plug the other end into a recording device of your preference, and you;re good to go. Many answering machines will have a mode for recording conversations, which is even simpler, but limits you to the recording capacity of the phone.

You go to Radio Shack and buy yourself a tape recorder that has the provision for a phone line to plug into . Read the instructions and enjoy the drama . It could be illegal in some places to record but that's another story . They are not too expensive. Maybe like $40 or so . Let the man at the store show you how to plug it in if you're not savvy.
Cheers!

man, get a hold of yourself....don't invest to much money in any gizmo....just get the the item the first poster mentioned, use one of your old cheap tape-recorders....put all the equipment under your bed...and its voice activated....if you pickup the receiver it starts recording!!!
