OK SWEETIE, DON'T LISTEN TO EVERYONE- YOU SPAYING AND NEUTERING IS YOUR CHOICE, DON'T LET THEM TALK TO YOU LIKE THAT. You did nothing wrong, and if you did, EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES, even them. So if you want to get her fixed, do it, if not, more power to ya. Everyone wants to talk bad about breeding but where did they get their dogs from?!?! A BREEDER! So there.

The pregnancy will start from the day she was bred. Hope this helps, please email me if you have any further questions. Have a beautiful day!

Well, if you really don't want to have puppies you could go to a vet right away (as in this morning or today) and get a morning after shot. There are vets that do do that with dogs, it will put her back into season, and you will have to keep a closer watch on her. Dogs become pregnant and gestation really is approximately 63 days. They usually take on the 11th day but nothing is written in stone with any living creature. They remain receptive for a few days and are in general not receptive until the swelling starts going down and the blood turns more to a shrimp water (a pinkish watery discharge rather than a red blood). That does not mean however that sperm will not last for several days it will, and just like other mammals if someone wanted female offspring, and they mated before an egg dropped, more male sperm would die off (male sperm die faster and swim faster) and it would be more likely to have females. If they wanted males mating after the egg dropped would more successfully produce males. Of course nothing is written in stone. Don't forget, today if you take an action you do have options.

If you really intend to spay her and did not intend for this mating to happen, then call the vet today and schedule her spay.

If she was just bred the vet should be able to spay her anyways right away with no problems or health complications for her.

She may not even be pregnant. Call your vet and find out your options and you can make a better decision for her and for you.

Whatever happens DO NOT let him get near her again. Each coupling can create more puppies----in other words she could be carrying one or two now and another encounter with him or another male could add more puppies.

Good luck.

Pregnancy in the dog (all breeds) lasts about 2 months: 60-64 days.
The canine reproductive life varies greatly from breed to breed with regard to onset of puberty, however. Small breed dogs typically start having estrus (heat) cycles earlier, at 4-6 months of age, and large breeds typically start later, at 12 to 24 months of age. The estrus cycles vary between each individual dog, average of 7 to 10 days. Some dogs as few as 2 days, some dogs cycle as long as 21 days.*

Female dogs cycle throughout their life, they do not experience menopause (reproductive cycles ceasing with age) as human females do.

Female dogs that are spayed eliminate the chance of uterine infection (a condition called pyometra), uterine cancer, and ovarian cancer, since the uterus and ovaries are removed during the spay surgery.

But that is your choice for no one else to make for you!congrats on the puppys-i would contact the vet as soon as she is showing sighns!

The other day, someone asked a question about her choice not to alter her pets. She was responsible and didn't allow breeding to occur with her unaltered dogs. But this here is the prime example of why so many people are so big on the idea of altering. Far too many people are just not responsible enuf to ensure "accidents" don't occur. Since this was obviously unplanned (and I suspect no genetic testing has ever occured either), then contact your vet asap and arrange for a spay. This will easily terminate any "possible" pregnancy and take away the risks of breeding, such as the female having delivery complications and dying.

Ok so you knew she was in heat and you allowed them to get together anyway????
You start to count from the day she bred. And the gestation period is 65 to 69 days for a dog. You better start to read up on how to take care of a pregant dog and how to help with delivery and the proper way to care for the pups. sounds like you need all the eduction you can get.

You were very irresponsible!
