There was once a saying that stated "the middle east will never be at peace" so I hope we do win it but I really do not think it is going to happen. They are crazy people over there and will apparently fight till the end!!!! I mean come on, how many people do you know that would fly a plane into a building and kill thousands and thousands of people and themselves?!

The Iraq war is won. This is something that I always have considered an idiotic point against Bush that people make that has no logical merit, only rhetorical vanity.

The goal of the USA military was to:

1) Remove Saddam and his inner cabal from power - achieved.
2) Remove all WMDs -achieved.
Massive stockpiles were not found, but WMDs were discovered, as well as the means to produce them.

That was the goal of the war, and Bush achieved those goals. We won. The real question is will George Bush win the peace. Will the new Iraqi government take root with our assistance? That remains to be seen.

It wasn't President Bush's war. President Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act in 1998 - regime change in Iraq.

President Bush as Commander in Chief formed an international Coalition which took Saddam's Iraq quickly, and in fairly short order as such things go, Iraqis had a Constitution, next the majority of Iraqis went to the polls and voted.

The US and Coalition members have remained in Iraq to aid Iraq's new democracy as it struggles toward stability. Democracies aren't easy to get in working order - America's sure wasn't - it takes time, effort and leadership. Our US and Coalition assistance is a finite resource that Iraq's new democratic leadership cannot afford to waste.

Bush is a genius when it comes to deceiving people and scaring people into supporting the war on terror. His scare tactics are very convincing. But, he's clueless when it comes to foreign policy. It's stupid and idiotic to start a war without absolute concrete evidence that someone is a threat against the country. Even if Bush did find evidence that Saddam Hussein was connected to Al-Quaida, invading the entire country and trying to force democracy on it would not have been the way to handle it. The smart thing to do would be to address Saddam Hussein individually. There are different kinds of geniuses and different kinds of idiots. It's not inconsistent to argue that Bush is a genius when it comes to manipulation, but an idiot when it comes to foreign policy because it's possible to be a genius in some areas and an idiot in others.

no i don't because i wouldn't call it solely a war on "Iraq." Now he's redirecting some troops to afghanistan, and he's picking a fight with Iran. If Iran occurs, then a draft will most likely be issued, because there is already not enough soldiers for iraq, and using the draft for Iran would not only make the middle east hate the usa even more, it would make the american citizens hate bush more. in addition, if he starts a war with iran, oil will go up over $100 dollars a barrel, thus causing gas prices to skyrocket for us.

I just think bush is just not doing the right thing. iraq isn't even near being over, and yet he wants to throw iran into the problem. in the end, more civilians will die, more soldiers will die, and the region will still be in total chaos.

Iraq was never winnable. The real questions are: what did ‘winnable’ ever mean; and will there be a country of Iraq 10 years from now?

In a sense, Bush has lost the war on both sides – he has led both America and Iraq to defeat at the same time. Only Bush could defeat himself playing Tic-Tac-Toe.

No WMDs were found (even Bush and Cheney admit that), and Clinton destroyed all of Saddam’s manufacturing sites in 1998.

Try to keep up.

If Bush won, why is he still fighting? Maybe you should drop him a congratulations note so he will know that he won.

Have you been paying attention - at all?

That is not the way the terrorists, the world, or anyone sees it, because it is not that way.

Iraq was never winnable; even the President’s own father said so in his 1998 book, ‘A World Transformed’.

As a result of invading Iraq, terrorist organization have more recruits, are more powerful, and are more popular than ever, while America is more hated than ever and more politically ineffectual internationally than ever.

Bush has failed in Afghanistan, he has failed in Iraq, he is failing in the war against terror, and if he attacks Iran, he will fail at that as well.

How much failure do you people want to inflict on America? You can quit digging. The hole is deep enough.

The people in Iraq are not getting the bigger picture,
stop the war by sitting down discussing it, try to
see that those men and G.W.Bush had a reason
for what he did, and you as the citizenry of Iraq do
not have a reason to kill one another, rebuild and
move on, the more questions that are asked the
less that will be done, he should have gone in
there, there is a future for everyone in Iraq..................

Civil war, violence and terrorism solve nothing,
try to help rebuild and change the attitudes rather
than anything else........................................................

"his" war? How ridiculous. It is not Bush's war, it is America's war, it is the West's war, it is civilization's war.

And all free and democratic peoples should fervently support and hope for victory, because the consequences of failure would be terrible to contemplate. Terrorism would escalate world-wide as the terrorist jihadists would take an Iraqi loss as a significant win, and a confirmation that the free peoples of the world are weak and ripe for attack.

The Democrats are working hard to get our troops back home before the job is finished. All they are doing is telling the world that the democrats support terrorism, which is why the terrorists were so happy when dems took control of congress. I fear for the safety of our country in the years to come. God help us all because the democrats sure won't.

I think once the US leaves another dictator like Saddam will rise to power and restore stability to the region. Then there won't be thousands of Iraqis dying all the time.
