I've known this girl for about 3 months, but during that time, we've become really close friends, and we share intimate secrets...but I messed up yesterday.

I was a little upset yesterday, and I blurted out that someone was talking behind her back. I did stand up for her, and the girl who was talking apologized, and asked that I not mention anything to my friend....well I guess I put my foot in my mouth cause I told her, but after I told her I realized how big of a mistake I had made....she asked me who it was...and I couldn't tell her cause I said I wouldn't.

Now she's very hurt, very angry, she says it's not at me, she just doesn't like it that someone's talking about her...she thanks me for standing up for her, but when I tried talking to her about it, she said I was only making it worse...

Is there anything I can do? I already apologized, feel horrible...Call me whatever you want, but even though she's a friend, she means more to me than some of my old girlfriends.

I am really upset not because I've hurt someone....I've done that before and not cared, but I've never hurt someone that I care this much about...

I think you should not bother so much about it. If the girl sees the whole picture, she'll know that you didn't mean it, and that you're sorry ... and again, SERIOUSLY what is the worst thing that can happen? Someone knows something, most probably nothing serious, and it will all be forgotten very soon...

Well you've apologized already, and if she know how sorry you are, she just needs time to get over it. Just don't mention it anymore, behave like everything is ok and try not to put your foot in your mouth again.
Oh and if you are unsure if things are really ok, try reading between the lines, in your future conversations.

If you have promised not to say anything.........and you did, now the mistake is maken.
And if your friend asked you not to talk more about that subject.......then.. accept it that way.
So.. forget about the thing, because she is right...you will make her remember something she wants to forget.
Be the same best friend for her as you have been till now.... and support her when she needs you.

Friendship is something so much great to lose it..

Good luck !!

I think you need to think before you speak, no one will get hurt. You can't do any thing with the past, make your future the best you can.
That's all I can help.

If she is Ur best girlfriend, she'll soon forget it!
On the contrary, it's better to forget her soon because she 'll fill Ur nights with nightmares

About all you can do is learn from your mistakes and don't let your emotions get the best of you next time.
