You got that right! If you are already paying 100 dollars they should give a better quality product. No commercials? maybe not but at least have better commentators and why not? better commercials.

Big mistake my man... You should have just got the Nascar Race View... its the same thing only animated... You can watch any of the 43 drivers, listen to them all, watch three different views of their car (only one at a time) You dont have to worry about commercials either... I watch the raceview when I want to see how my driver is doing from time to time, and when I want to see whos in front and whos behind him. Also it gives me a live leader board, fastest laps, pit times, pit windows, there is more stuff on there than I will ever need. Best part is when the TV goes away to commericals (somehow right before a caution every time!) I am just watching my raceview during that time and so I know exactly what is going on... Why do you need commentators on your drivers channel? Isnt it better just listening to the guys talk on the radio?
Oh and by the way if you ever get an HD tv and you want to watch a race in HD... you are just wasting away that 100 bucks, because you wont be watching that hotpass if you can watch the race in HD!

I so wish I'd waited to watch the preview before I bought this package, but I was a sucker for the $20.00 break they gave you for early sign up. I too was am very disappointed with what we're getting. I emailed my disappointment to DirectV, for all the good it will do us. - This is what I sent them.
I realize this is a new package and hopefully they will be working out the kinks, but I still have to say I'm very disappointed with yesterdays premire of NASCAR Hot Pass on DirecTV.
If it doesn't improve through the season, I will not be re-ordering next year. I can get just about everything I got yesterday for FREE on Fox Network TV! Found myself on Fox Network Station more than Hotpass Channels yesterday anyway.
I paid for Hotpass Service and upgraded all my receivers to take full advantage of it's offerings......all for naught! Alot of money I didn't need to spend.
SUGGESTIONS:
Get rid of the commercials or at least let us override the commercial audio with Hotpass Audio.
Stop the commentators talking over the Driver's Audio, everytime the driver had something to say the commentators were yacking!!
Put the SOUND of the CARS on more (again, stop the commentator bantering).
Give us one full screen view of the race with no commentary with some appropriate music in the background on a separate channel, so we don't have to keep flipping to FOX Network to get a full screen view of the race.
The in car camera box was so small you need a magnifying glass to see it, so was the race view during the commercials. If we have suffer through commercials, at least put them in the Small box and the RACE in the BIG BOX. I paid to watch the race, NOT TO WATCH COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!!!
Kill the 5 and 6 camera views all on one screen, The race, the in car, the driver interview, pit cam etc, all on at the same time on one screen is way too much to look at simultaneously. A Max of 3 views is enough.
My Review - THUMBS DOWN DIRECTV! I really thought it would be MUCH better and I would actually get something in return for my $$. Shoulda known better......

I'm not sure where you live, but I only paid $69.00 for my subscription to Hot pass, I watched the entire race, and when they went to commercial, they always had a screen in the bottom left hand corner of the TV, so I was still able to see what was going on with the race. I have also subscribed to Pit Command and Track Pass on the computer, this is a great addition when you are watching Hot Pass on the TV. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with your subscription to Hot Pass. Give Hot Pass another chance before you decide to dump it.

I agree! The telemetry was not even available on the Stewart channel! They should have tested everything out before going live. You can cancel it through Directv if you are not satisfied though. Maybe if alot of us complain they will do something about it. The commercials were annoying and the announcers talking to each other was even more annoying!
All in all, I am not too thrilled with it. And how do we choose the Wild Card driver for next week? I thought we would be able to follow our favorite frivers all season. Who wants to listen to Montoya next week? That guy is a hack...

It sounds like the NASCAR Trackpass is a better option, since this year you have the choice of pretty much any driver to listen to.
My only issue with it is that the communications are delayed by about 5-10 seconds so if there's a wreck or an issue with the racecar it can be hard to sync up with the TV.

Boy was I disappointed. First they gave us commercials, then the shrunk your driver view during the commercial, almost down to nothing, that was awful. Then part of the screen was blank. For this to work, we need no commercials, no breaks, show us our driver in one window, telemetry in another window and then the race leaders in another view. I do not believe many will order after the free preview, feel bad for all that ordered ahead of time. I almost ordered the one on nascar, com until I realized it was not the actualvideo but simulation, are you freaking kidding me, nascar wake up and give us the live video.

What a joke!! Had the cable in-car service the past few years and was a great way of avoiding the commercials and listening to driver/crew.
Hot Pass has way too much graphics and fluff and a commentator yapping. Commercials come on and they are maximized and you are forced to listen to them......keep your wallet closed here.

The Daytona 500 was free so you could have tried it out first. I agree with you though - I would have expected team communications, different camera angles, telemetry, stats, etc. not available on the regular Fox broadcast. It was too annoying to not watch Fox only.
