i must help myself first

the only way to know is to extend yourself and do it.

remember it's not your actions that count..it's the place your in while you go about your day. Are you in a peaceful, content, happy, loving place or a greedy, self serving, unhappy place. If your heart isn't aligned with your mission then it's an unfruitful act and the benefits that it could have given to you and the other person/s are lost.

I would try leading a useful, contented life for yourself first and this will naturally extended to others.

peace

Being useful and contended will enable you to lead a useful and contented life. Try being useful and bake me a cake or something. You can have some too, will that content you?

First you have to understand why loving and serving others is important. When you understand that, and you want to follow that path, yes, you r going to have a usefull, contented life.
but as i said, you have to want that, not by fear or expactation of a reward.

I think it would depend on what you're looking to get out of it. If you're doing it because you honestly want to help others, then yes, it would be very fulfilling.

If you're interested in doing it because you want the *recognition* of "Hey, look what I've done, aren't I such a good person?" then you'll probably be disappointed.
