He shoould never have been allowed to join the army. The royals are a joke and cost us millions with nothing in return.
He`ll more than likely be kept in a safe area which they should do with all officers.
Officers are the biggest liabilty to a unit on patrol as they cost lives through stupid decisions

I couldn't agree more.. He should stay home or join the Royal Navy where theres less of a chance of roadside bombs and extra protection wouldn't be necessary. But on the other hand is he a general? of course not, then he should be given no more special treatment than anyone of similiar "military rank" If he finds it necessary to be in the Army. Every mother or father would love to have there daughter or son be given extra protection in Iraq but its not going to happen. I think its crazy that people born with a silver spoon in there mouth.. ie rich or blood line should feel like or be given special treatment. Its crazy.. even Movie stars act like special people.. and expect to be treated as such. But people who are viewed by some as indispensible usually cause more harm than good to the REAL person by having to body guard him and you can bet if the crazy fanatics who are doing all this terrorist acts know hes there and can find him he'll become a prime target.

I say good on the lad,I don't believe he will need or receive any more protection than any one else -lets face it he will be surrounded by heavily armed soldiers & he himself will be carrying a fully automatic rifle with 180 bullets,a pistol with 24 bullets, body armour,a helmet & will travel around in an armoured reconaisance vehicle I would say hes safer on ops than at home with 1 royal protection officer with a pistol. He will look & behave no differently than any other junior officer in theatre the only danger to him is the press who will give away his presence & locations like the incompetent scum they are.
Hopefully after a photo shoot of him in theatre they will leave him & his comrades alone to get on with the job.Remember like allof our lads & lasses in the forces hes a volounteer & has put himself in harms way for our country & us so give him the respect he deserves.

Actually, I'm very proud of him. Harry has been the problem child for so long, it's good to see him grown to a respectable man. The fact that he wants to be treated as any other officer in the British Army is commendable.
I pray for his safe sevice and hope he comes home a better man for his service.
He's a real jewel among the Royals, if you ask me.

His appearance in Iraq is just another public relations stunt. But it is good for the future of British leaders. If they are there to see what their men on the frontlines are going through they would appreciate their contribution better and think better of what to do protect them and compensate them. It would also help in future deployment of troops. This would restrict future deployment to neccessities only and the kind of frivolities that is associated with previous deployments. British troops would not be sent to areas where they would be expose to serious risks.

Could be a problem
However
He has asked for no special treatment. Its the generals in charge that are scared of being responsible incase Harry gets injured or worse.
And yes he is a REAL soldier! The Brits dont send idiots into battle!
I'll be there soon I hope!

I agree. It's just propaganda to show the Royals are regular people just like you and I. Total waste of money and resources. I bet Harry gets proper body armour and isn't driving around in an unarmoured land rover. But then again, if all Royals think they are automatically officer class, let him prove it. He's hardly shown himself to be intelligent so far.

If he wants to go to Iraq with the army, then he should be forced to endure the same hardships and dangers as the rest.
Protecting him would be a waste of resources. Make the prince get a reality check in Iraq. Heavens knows, the whole nation needs one with this.

well it is kind of a difficult situation isn't it...
on the one hand, we can't just have the royals living in luxury all their lives without contributing something, and doing something useful in the army is a good thing...and if he's going to deploy with his unit to Iraq, then why shouldn't he face the same risks as everyone else...
the other side of the coin of course is that he's the spare heir, and ideally we want to keep him available to sit on the potty if Wills can't do it...therefore they want to try and satify Harrys' desire to be with his unit, facing the same risks and doing the same duty, and on the other hand it wouldn't be good if he got hurt.

I agree. At least he is not fighting the deployment. IF he fought the deployment he would be labeled a coward. I read dozens of stupid questions on here in regards to the Presidents daughter and it would be just as expensive to protect them. Thank you for using your brain, its a nice change from what you see on here.
