If we do a sweep and kill everyone in Iraq, does that mean we win the war on terror and the world will live happily ever after?

I don't think so, but they insist on living in that fairy tale world.

As a cynic, it is because they have no plan on getting out, and have to do something to make out time there worthwhile. It also stops debate, as you have to defend yourself against charges of being a sympathizer

That is a Republican sales pitch, nothing more. Studies have shown that people are more afraid of losing something than gaining something, so the implication here is that Americans would rather have the War on Terror than to lose it. This holds even though it is not exactly clear what it is that they will be "losing". Following this line of logic, the War on Terror will be never-ending and will go on indefinitely. In twenty or thirty years you will be hearing the same thing from the Republicans you are hearing today. Similarly, the war in Iraq will go on as long as the Iraqi birth rate exceeds the deaths by bombings.

What I do know is that if we leave Iraq now that in short order it will erupt into chaos that will make current problems look like a fine day at the park. That is of course if Iran doesn't just move in and take it over, politically if not in the actual physical sense. If the two sides in the current civil war don't decide to use our exit as an opportunity to straighten things out the bloodshed would be enormous, but then again that didn't seem to bother anyone who forced the precipitous early withdrawal from vietnam and our abandonment of the S.Vietnamese people to those who wanted power, but then again only three million or so died as a result of that decision, small price to pay for "peace" right?

Beats me. Regardless what happens in Iraq-be it good or bad terrorism will always exist. Winning in Iraq will not put that to a end. Granted, losing will make things worse to a certain extent, but even if this democracy they all hope for pops up in Iraq the war on terror will still go on and continue.

No, all we do is cede control of the Middle East to Iran and give Iraq over to the Shiite thugs and al qaeda. And sentence all the people who tried to work with us to death. And the terrorists will be able to take their war to Europe and American cities while setting up camps to train more fanatic jihadis. Not to mention America will be perceived as a gutless loser by the whole world (which already hates us) and we will be despised as spineless cowards and surrenderers.

in line with danger one might desire to confirm in what context Iraq is a conflict. iraq is an occupied u . s .. Occupied countries usually rally a resistence via their human beings against their occupiers. in this context how precisely does the international 'terrorist' slot in? have been the French resistence in WWII terrorists simply by fact they battled the Germans who occupied their u . s .? of direction many s**t disturbers have pored into Iraq which replaced into top for civil and non secular strife if all people ever broke down the as quickly as element that united the individuals of that u . s . - concern of their repressive government. Iraq is limited to break into various countries with Iran rising as a close-by means and the actual winner of this 'experience'. to attempt to be so black and white and say they're terrorists who 'hate freedom' is undeniable stupid...they see this conflict as a conflict for their very own freedom it incredibly is a huge irony.

Pay attention. If we leave Iraq before they are able to protect themselves from the terrorist who are trying to take over and control their government, then we will end up with a terrorist lead country. They will set the people of Iraq back 700 years and anyone who does not convert will be killed. They will also work to not only take over the middle east, they will also control all the oil. How does $300 a barrel sound to you. Terrorism comes in many flavors.
The reasoning is the more you allow terrorist foot in the door the more they will take.
Simple logical deductive reasoning.

So you want to leave and hundreds of thousands to millions of Iraqi's die in a civil war? You want Al Queda in Iraq to take over the oil fields and promote terrorism? I think you are being naive if you think leaving Iraq will not increase terrorism.

No theyre just not ignorant, they understand whats going on. If we pull out of Iraq, that gives the Taliban and Al-Quada the message that America will just give up and it will inspire them and they will continue to do what they do.
