Immaculate Conception

This is a term used to give people in the IV Century more credibility to Jesus holiness, for everyone else before him and after him has been born with "original sin".

The term also gives people a sense of Mary's holiness, because nothing "pure" can be born from someone "impure".

Believing in the Immaculate conception is a matter of faith for Christians.

immaculate conception. If you will read the bible, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Mary, his mother, was impregnated without actual intercourse. That's why it's called "immaculate conception".
