When you first get them for like the first 2 weeks your mouth is really sore, but after that the only thing that sorta hurts is tightening. And when you do get them DO NOT drink orange juice some chemical in it sharpens the metal in your braces. And don't eat chips either, they could break your wires and you could have to pay up to $100 in fixing them. Well good luck!

Not particularly. The only discomfort I remember from when I had my braces was whenever they were tightened, my teeth would sort of ache the next day. Other than taht they were fine.
The only other thing to expect is that for a little while just after they're fitted, your mouth may produce an awful lot of saliva (because your brain is recognising a foreign object in our mouth and trying to dissolve it).
Hope this helps - enjoy your new smile!

It hurts for the first 2-4 days before your teeth get adjusted to it.
It's not that bad the first day for most people until the next morning. Just take Motrin, Advil, or Tylenol to relieve the pain.
Then your teeth will get used to it.
I just got my lower row braces 2 days ago and I'm going through that pain now.
Remember, it really depends on how much hardware you have in your mouth that determiens how much it's going to hurt the first few days.

Brace as we know is a wire device used in straighten the teeth by dentist it will not hurt because the gums must have been injected inorder to kill the pains that may emerged from it.

They do when you first get them. You'll get used to them. They should give you wax at the ortho office. If not then ask for it, With wax you can use it to cover a wire that may be poking out or sometimes a bracket may bother you. Dont be afraid to ask for it it will really help you out. They should also give you an interproximal brush which will help you clean inbetween your brackets since you wont be able to floss real well.

There will be some discomfort and when they tighten wires it could feel bad for a day or two but tylenol usually helps. When they put the bands on your teeth it won't hurt. Please be sure to brush teeth well while you have them. You'll love your smile in a year or two.

My daughter was a little older than 9 when she got her's on and she never said they hurt. The only discomfort she felt and it was brief, was when they had to tighten them every so often.

Mine hurt each time they tightened them, but that was 30 years ago--they may have found a way to make it easier on you now.
