I did it again; drank bourbon and got a raging hangover.
I enjoy social drinking, but I cannot tolerate nasty hangovers. Besides beer, what alcohol spirits do you recommend for avoiding hangovers? (aarrghh.. more aspirin and back to bed...,someone please take this icepick from me head....)

Try Gin, I drink it all the time, my drink of choice simply because there have been numerous nighst where I went a litle overboard, drank a whole whole lot and woke up fine and ready to go. It is the only alcohol that I have never had a hangover ftrom, give it a shot I bet you will be happy with the results.

Don't get me wrong here as I have been known to drink a few but perhaps you just need to give up drinking all together. If you must though perhaps it is your choice of drink. Different drinks have different properties that can effect the body and make you sick. Distilled vodka is purest of all. You can still mix it with juice or whatever. Alcohol effects the function of the liver and and its ability to deliver glucose to your body cells (hypoglycemia). It also causes dehydration. Maybe your body is not absorbing all the alcohol before you go to bed and you actually get drunker as you sleep. Beer never made me sick but any other hard alcohol allowed me to drink much more than I could handle because when I got drunk and realized it I already had more drinks in me yet to be absorbed into the blood. 2 drinks is now my personal limit I set for myself after getting alcohol poisoning myself. Eating a good meal before drinking can effect alcohol absorption and protect the stomach a bit. Drinking a large amount of water after drinking can help stop dehydration and flush out the body.

Drink clear alcohol, and DO NOT mix it with a carbonated beverage....stick to juices...the carbonation will really kick your butt in the hangover department! Also, drink at least 8 oz of water before you pass out, along with a couple advil...keep it next to the bed..lol....and dont take aspirin...alcohol thins the blood, as does aspirin, can be a lethal combination!

vodka & cranberry juice, or any juice that doesn't have sugar, look for things that have no sugar, sugar=hangover.
