Shes never liked Cat Nip. I was reccomended Valerina teabags to help me sleep and they worked.
When I was emptying my shopping bags my cat was going nutty over the box with the Valerina Teabags in she was dribbling and rolling about running on the box and clutching it to her body when I sat down holding the box she got on my lap. This is very rare. What does it make her behave crazy and is it ok for her?

Because the plant Valerian is a sedative for humans but a stimulant for cats.
It's completely normal. My cat also used to get nuts on this stuff

It may have some cat-nip qualities, I think it's okay. I found that my cat goes nutty over the smell of green stuffed olives, one time I left an empty plate that still had some of the liquid from the olives on the coffee table, she sniffed it & went silly rolling around and seemed to like it, I was told from others that have cats that do the same. There is know harm in it, let her have fun.

Sounds like it contains Valerian; a plant the cats are quite fond off. The response is variable and seems to correspond to the personal character of the cat. I looked it up and the root of the plant contains a terpenoid chemical - valerinone. Valerinone is a chemical very similar to catnip's nepetalactone (the active ingredient in catnip that some cats respond to). In humans, Valerian is used to induce sleep or calm, a feeling of well being.

Hi, thanks for asking the question - I was really interested in the answers because some of my cats are the same. Fishing the used teabag out of the bin & getting into the cupboard with the unused one, shredding the box & playing with the tea bags.

The funny thing is, though, they ignore the catnip mice.

i'm a Latter Day Saint--giving up tea became into the toughest ingredient for me to do once I switched over and then reconverted after being inactive. exceedingly iced tea. It became into incredibly poor because of the fact I enjoyed it lots. yet I do have self assurance in the observe of understanding. So i wanted to conform. while going out to devour---i do no longer incredibly like candy issues, so soda is out of the question. what's there incredibly else to drink to boot water? nicely, water--as a close-by American, we are informed the water is the "blood of the earth" (that has no longer something to do with Mormonism, btw) and that that's the appropriate ingredient to drink. So I truthfully have found out to take excitement in a staggering cool glass of water rather of iced tea. while i prefer some thing warm to drink, i'm getting those products from the eastern industry created from brown rice or barley and that makes a actual staggering, heat comforting tea.

Valerina contains Actinidine and Dihydroactinidiolide; both are attractive to cats (like catnip).

Here in Germany they have little cloth packages filled with Valerian root for cats to play with. Valerian has a sedative effect on people, but has the opposite effect on cats. My cat rolls around on the little package, rubs her face all over it, then lays with her head on it like it's a pillow. I don't know if they have this Valerian root cat toy in the States. If they use it for cat toys, I assume it isn't harmful. My cat has never shown any ill effects from her Valerian-induced high.
