Weight loss from exercise requires that you keep the amount you eat constant. If you allow yourself to increase what you eat because your appetite increased because of exercise... never.
Another reason the answer might be never is that you may not be running fast enough. Watching television takes about 90 calories per hour. Two and a half miles is about 250 calories if you weigh 150 pounds. If you take 2.5 hours to run that distance you are only burning 10 calories per hour more than if you were watching television. Since it takes 3500 calories to lose a pound, that works out to one pound per year. Or for all practical purposes... never.
Now if you do your 2.5 miles in 25 minutes, you'll burn about 300 calories in the hour and, assuming you held the calories you eat constant with before you started exercising, you would need about two weeks to lose a pound. In a couple months you should have little problem seeing the results. More calorie reduction and more exercise and you'll see greater results.

Chewing your food thoroughly is not going to make digestion easier, but will allow your body time to recognise if it is actually full, thus preventing gorging.
