I think that the theory of evolution and the fossil record is a way of God testing our faith.

I don't know if the theory of evolution comes directly from Satan, but I do believe that the Satan does use these as a tool to keep people from letting Jesus into their hearts.

Evolution has done so much damage because it helps people to dare to question God and Christianity. You shouldn't do that. If you respect Jesus, you do not question the teachings.

Do you agree?

How about in the beginning God created, and from that point we have evolved???
just another way to look at it

you have stated two conflicting arguments. one being: evolution is used as a test from god. and another saying: evolution is used by satan. which one do you believe, or do you believe both "persons" "using" evolution in these manors are the same person?

First off, evolution does not help people dare to question god. it merely states, quite conclusively in fact, that god need not have played a part in mankind's ascension as the dominant species on the planet. no science could ever prove the existence or non existence of a god or gods.

Now as for your contention that evolutionary theory and the fossil record are tests from god, that they are just made to LOOK as if the teachings of the bible are wrong, I have to disagree. I can accept that there might be a creator. I can NOT accept that there is a deceptive one.

No I do not agree. People were "daring" to question God and Christianity well before the theory of evolution was formulated.

If it does help people approach religion with an inquiring and open mind I think that is a good thing. We should not accept anything contrary to our reason - even if its from a pastor railing from the pulpit. I do not believe that any God would "test our faith" in the way you say as I do not believe that any God (or to be more precise any God worthy of the name) would demand that we suppress our ability to reason.

I do not know of "damage" evolution has done. I am aware of damage created by a corrupted and intellectually bankrupt theory of "social darwinism". However blaming evolution for that is like blaming Christianity-in-the-round for Waco.

I do not know of any damage direct from evolution but I do know plenty of damage created by world views that actively sought to supress reason - Nazis, Bolsheviks, Maoists, back through Inquisitions, Witch-trials etc etc.

Evolution does not come directly from Satan, that much we know: he's too busy trying to get people like you to stop thinking.

"one of the greatest challenges to the theory of evolution is the development of the eye and Darwin was at a complete loss to explain this."

Darwin was not at a loss to explain it if you read "On the Origin of Species" - but of course you won't, you will just believe an out-of-context quotation found in a quote mine.

For a very clear explanation of the evolution of the eye you should read Climbing Mt Improbable by Richard Dawkins. The eye, by the way has evolved about 40 different times. That is how many different eyes there are.

You are deluded. Evolution is the most substantially evidenced scientific theory in the history of science. It is so firmly substantiated that any claim that it was not true wipes out most of modern medicine and almost all of biology. It certainly demands that people question God, but that is because as an explanation for the quetions answered by evolution, God has no credibility. You may believe what you want. But you are living in a different century if you think that you can dismiss evolution just because it doesn't fit in with your need for a god.

A wise man learns and holds judgment until all things are known. Creatures do change. We change both plant and animal through breeding. That we are of God is true, how he works is a mystery as the Bible states. Is the theory totally correct ? No.Is it totally wrong? No. A mans faith should not be dependent on the world we are not to be conformed to the world (our faith) but be transformed by it. I will believe in God no matter what. My belief is not dependent on how the world is.

Scientific research confirms that humans are a link in the evolutionary life chain. There is no credible evidence for the existence of God. For most people, religion is nothing more than a substitute for a malfunctioning brain - the chimpanzee part! Do you also consider education to be the work of the Devil, considering the level of education that scientists obtain? Anyone who delves into a bit of independent research can't help but draw the conclusion that the theory of evolution carries weight. Arent we therefore utilising the so-called "free-will" part of our brain that your God allegedly gave us?

How would you explain fossils of creatures that have evolved over time, including hominids and homo sapiens? Would God throw these fossils into the Earth just to confuse us? Methinks not.

Truth is the mother of Religion and Science. Religion without science is mere superstition. Science without religion is only materialism. They must both harmonize. Religion MUST CONFORM to scientific laws if it is to be a true religion. If it doesn't, it's only a mirage.

My religion teaches the harmony of science and religion, believes in the unity of science and religion, and promotes the education of children in both science and religion.

As for Satan, the alleged personification of evil, this "creature" does not exist. Evil is the absence of good, evil itself doesn't exist. Darkness is the absence of light, poverty is the absence of wealth, sickness is the absence of good health, and cruelty is the absence of compassion. Everything God made is good, so how can one say that there is a Satan, the king of badness, if God created everything in the universe, and Satan would certainly fall into that category? Satan does not exist.

Ah, but God and Science and Religion DO.

Wow. Did you actually graduate from high school?

OK, evolution isn't true. Darwin was lying, just to piss off Christians. So was Einstein, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton. Steven Hawking is lying to this day. They all just pulled that stuff out of their butts, made it all up and used flowery words to disguise the fact they were in league with the Evil One. They are all just Satan worshipers trying to turn you highly enlightened folks away from your faith.

Excuse me, I have to go throw up now.

What you are describing is ignorance. You are saying not to accept anything that goes against the bible, even if it is scientifically true, because Satan could have been behind it. You are promoting that people maintain ignorance.

And I don't agree. I chose science over a 2000 year old book.

I don't agree. Evolution is not the product or instrument of satan. It is a valuable scientific product. But its value is limited only to physical matters, and cannot be used to explain the source and purpose of the universe, especially about matters concerning spiritual realities. For this purpose, true science must go hand in hand with true religion.
