It's faith, that we going in our lives with the hope that our prayers are answered. It is what gets a lot of people through the day, and if there wasn't hope in the world, then I think society around the world would crumble in hopelessness of every day problems.
Prayer just helps us spiritually, motivating us.

Because Jesus said, "Anything you ask in my Name, without doubting, will be granted by my Father which is in heaven. Therefore if you do not have faith in Father God and believe that Jesus is His Son who died for our sins and if you have not repented of your sins and truly believed and relied and trusted Jesus, you cannot expect an answer. Remember also, no one fools Father God.
