God would never (could not) lead us into temptation. This is in the prayer to make us forever aware that it is ourselves (human self) who see and act on temptation, and need the reminder of what is really true. Without spiritual understanding, there is a lot that doesn't make sense, like a man from dirt (?).

You could have a point but God gave man th ability to chose. sometimes I wish he had not but he wanted us to come to him willingly and not be forced. Soo we have the option of believing or not believing. Sure some of it sounds harsh but if you were the creator of this world, just think about how you would have created it and the stipulations you would have put on it. We ask God to lead us NOT into temptation and to deliver us from evil. Would it be better for us to ask to be led INTO temptation. What you are talking about is a prayer to teach us how to pray and God does not play tricks. He's tells it like it is. Satan deceived Eve into going and eating from the tree and Adam didn't have the will power to tell her no. The reason things are as they are is because man, not woman didn't have sense enough not to listen to woman. Eve didn't force that piece of fruit down Adams throat and God told Adam not eat of the tree, He did not tell Eve Adam told Eve but satan told her it was alright, he really pulled one over on her. Forget the theologians and experts, and open your heart up and YOU ask God to show you. Theologians don't really know anymore than just someonebody like me . Read and study the Bible for yourself and whether it makes sense or not, ask God to help you understand it Pray expecting and you will see.

People have a great ability to take the devil's doing and present it as God's.
God will not lead us into temptation-- it is the devil. Satan!
We pray and ask him to give us strength to overcome our weaknesses and resist our temptations.
By the way, Adam and Eve were tempted by THE DEVIL IN SERPENT FORM, not by God.

Temptation literally means a test, not always a solicitation to do evil. God has promised to keep us from any testing that is greater than what we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13).

because we are HUMAN we can easily fall into temptation
God gives us the freedom to choose what we want to do , his will or ours , the temptation is NOT his will for us & he wants us to do what is RIGHT & best for us , but the
choice is ours. He also allows us to do WRONG so that
we can learn & teach others from our mistakes.
hope this helps

Once again, you are taking out of context, and wresting Scripture! Since YHVH is almighty, He must take responsibility for everything, even though He does not cause the evil. And He does! So the phrasing is another way or saying "Please do not allow me to be tempted". Perhaps it scanned better the other way, and fit poetically better.

Do you read the Bible searching for things to use with contempt for our Father and our Lord Jesus. Maybe you have one of those books about contridictions in scripture. One contridiction you will never find is that Father God is alive and well and watching YOU.

God gave Adam and Eve free will. Satan tested them, not God. Satan only has the power God allows Satan to have to tempt us, therefore we ask God to help us use our free will to resist Satan and sinning.
