Or would you be suspicious of them skirting safety rules (maybe overworking pilots) just so they can get planes off the ground to battle this hit they have taken with consumers/media?

I would fly jet blue and I don't think they broke or skitting any rules
they just were hoping for the best (hoping the weather would clear
by the time their jets got to the runway- apparently they just
goofed, they are human too you know.
its also possible ATC /FAAclosed JFK as well
so they couldnt take ouf without ATC permission anyway

The damage is done. Why cheat to defuse a bomb that has already gone off?

If they 'sneak on' and fly say 10 more flights do you honestly think the press is going to be more favorable? "Jet only cancelled 110 flights, not 120".

There is zero advantage to breaking the law now. I'd be more worried about flying another airline that has not already taken the publicity hit.

There are laws that keep pilots from overworking. It just can't happen and no pilot is going to risk losing his license. To insinuate that they are "skirting safety" is potential slander.
