Tough one...but it does have to be your choice. It will not be easy, but you can do it. Your attitude belongs to you, and only you can change it. Do not expect miracles overnight, but slowly start to look at things in a different light. Do more things you feel good about, and carry that with you. Keep your mind open about the counselor...if you do not think it will help, it will not.

It's great that your parents are aware that you need to see a counselor. So many parents these days don't even notice when their kids need help. Having parents like yours is one thing you can smile about.
A good counselor can help you with techniques & exercises to not be so negative.
As far as what to do to cheer yourself up, surely there used to be things that made you happy. Friends, music, a hobby....? You could do something you used to enjoy & see if it brings a smile to your face.

View your new counselor as a tool that you can use to solve your problem. Ask questions, and be direct. If you want to feel better, start changing today by seeking help. Take it from a counselor.

STOP carrying the weight of the world. Nothing matters, it's all little stuff that goes on only in your head. Even the big stuff is little stuff. Relax, enjoy, your wasting your time.
