I have been considering moving to Ontario once I graduate college but have noticed from family friends and reading stuff online that the health care is pretty bad there. So I was wondering, this is probably a stupid question, but if I moved there I could keep my health insurance here and just come here to go to the doctor and such right? As long as I where still a US resident? Or am I wrong?

It depends on how you carry your insurance currently. Is it a student insurance policy? Is it through your parents? Your job?

Does 'going to Ontario' mean living there forever? or 6 months?

There are too many factors to consider. Without knowing more about your circumstances, I'm afraid I can't give you a very concrete answer. It is possible, just not very common.

Once you move your permanant residence is then the place that you occupy for majority of time. Just like your drivers licence you will then become a resident of the province you are in. You may still be able to return to the US however as you will not be eligible for government health care until you are a canadian citizen. Health care in ontario (OHIP) is provided by the government so there for you can't buy a certain level of service so to speak. Currently the government has cut much funding and more and more hospitals are experiencing back logs and comprimised care. The part in which I live in is also experiencing a shortage on family physicians. I would suggest that you speak with you current health care and determine whether or not they will continue to cover you.
Best of Luck
