Don't overstress yourself on this. Ask your recruiter to give you the minimum requirements to get into basic training and start from there. Yes, you have to pass a mini PT test to get into basic. If you fail it you have to go to "fat camp" where you do PT all the time in order to drop weight or pass the test. I think for girls it is less than 10 push-ups, a few situps and a one mile run. Once you have that conquered work up from there and continue doing push-ups, sit-ups, and running.

Basic training is certainly not easy, but if you are in decent shape and can handle a few weeks of bull **** you'll be fine. Everyone is going to want to sit here and tell you that you will be running ten miles every morning but it is not true. The longest I ever ran in basic was 6-7 miles and that was for graduation. Normally you will run 3-4 miles 3 or 4 times a week. The drill sergeants only have 9 weeks with you and they have to train you to do a huge amount of tasks and they do not have hours upon hours set aside for push-ups and running. They will always find time for you to do some push-ups but not running 20 miles.

Good Luck

Get yourself in great shape. Run run and run. And no matter how much you run it wont be enough once you are in basic. If you can run 10 miles nonstop they will expect you to run 20. Im not trying to scare you away, im just trying to motivate you.
Any bad habbits you might have now-such as smoking or whatever. Give it up ASAP.
And mostly prepare yourself mentally. Its more of a mental challenge than anything. Remember, your drill instructors might be mean SOBs but they are only doing their jobs so dont take it too personal. There was a time not long ago when they were in your boots as well, and one day maybe you can be in theirs.
Good Luck!

Running would be a good start. Don't necessarily run for distance but run for time. Run about 20 to 30 minutes a day. You could work on pushups and sit ups, but you'll get more practice on those than you could ever imagine...

;-)

Enjoy it and Good luck!!!

Check out good funeral parlours that dont charge the earth.

Oh and have your dad run a cold water bath yet have him insist that its hot water thats running despite all the evidence to the contrary. It will help you having to deal with your superiors once in the army.

Normally females need more excersize for pushups. Generally situps are easily adaptive. Running.......well.........you will do alot of that in Basic Training.
