My answer is not *neccesarily*, but here is some advice- I would reccommend that you pay a litle extra for the "Solgar" brand of over-the-counter remedies and supplements.

I disagree with what some other posters have written about amounts of ingredients and quality control "being controlled by law." I think this is untrue becuase herbal remedies and OTC remedies are legally not allowed to be sold as treatments for anything directly.....herbal remedies are largely sold as "foodstuffs" which doesnt require any law, or testing or standards. Vitamin and herbal treatments' pacakging will often hint at their historical use, but is not currently allowed to overtly and clinically say what it can be used for. Currently only pharmaceuticals in the UK can be labelled as treatments for different ailments. Hence, ALL OTC and herbal remedies are ungoverned and untested. Only a few brands such as Kira, Solgar etc have extremely high production and QC standards, and these tend to be the German brands, where herbal treatment is used and recognised by the medical establishment and is prescribed regulalry by GPs over there.

To get back to my point;- Solgar have extremely high quality and production control. Studies have shown that there are toxins within batches of some vitamin supplements which can deplete the overall effect of a vitamin supplement- and do more harm than good- so it is best to go for a recognised, large brand. Although the RDA (Recommended Daily Amount) and ingredients are the same on one vitamin product to another, other toxins and ingredients can sneak in by accident or by contamination along a production line.

I hope that this information helps you .

The stores don't have their own factories to make their own brands. Factories that make vitamins and such items usually make the store brands too. The stores just put their own labels on the that's all. That's why there is no difference.

Why on earth do you even need to consider taking vitamins?

If you change your eating to a healthy eating plan with five good portions of fruit and veg each day, 1.5-2l of water and the correct oils, then you have no reason to consider taking supplements, its ridiculous, the body cannot store them so whay waste money taking them just to flush them down the loo, or is it because you have a poor diet you feel you are lacking? You have to change your diet to improve health, not take tablets

You can compare the labels.

Often you will find not only a difference in price but also a different dosage of each vitamin contained within tablet.

Usually pay more for organic as opposed to chemical derivatives and the tablet/s quantity and dosage will determine the price set.

The answer to your question is NOT NECESSARILY.
