I dont think so - English is an internationally accepcted language and its one of the major languages in most of the Indian Schools with Hindi and the state language. Talking in English does not make one superior - its just a way to communicate with the rest of the world

Not at all my dear friend.
This may be the case with people comparatively less educated but having more materialistic thing.
Media tries to show them as face of India but this not true.
Real India is Mr.Lalu Pd.Yadav.
Mulayam singh Yadav use to wear traditional Dhoti.
Earlier Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajapayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Karunakaran with "lungi" are also among them.
If English speaking people are superior then why all of them are ruled by those traditional people.
Leave those rules and power English Speaking people can't enjoy our Unity in diversity factor which is admire by all Westerners.

I think that ENGLISH has become a Universal Business language.
It is easy to communicate with people from different countries, in English.

For Indians to study abroad in UK or USA English is compulsory.
If the people speak in their state language ---Marathi. Telegu. Tamil, Bengali or Hindi. how many people in the world can understand them?

Will it be possible for them to get employment in MNCs or other good Companies or in other states?
If someone can speak in 5-7 languages they get a secure feeling and adds to their self confidence.
No matter how good a person is in her or his work, if he cannot speak good English, that person will not rise to the top of company.

Now you can make your own judgement from all I have mentioned.

I don't understand why some languages are kind of a status symbol for few people? They really need some kind of treatment. Languages are just a comfortable media of communication. You can communicate through any media. The only thing is that you should be able to do it efficiently.
