This happened yesterday morning as well, but went away by 10 or so (it's 5a now). He complains that his stomach hurts a lot and is lying there moaning on the couch. We've given him pepto and some toast but neither seems to have worked. Any suggestions?

No peanut butter and I get moaning a lot from him (for all kinds of reasons) so unfortunately it's not a real good indication of how bad it is. And yes, he did say he doesn't want to go to school, but I do believe that he doesn't feel well too

Has he been eating peanut butter lately?? If so, look at the top of the bottle.. If the numbers start with "2111", he might have salmonella..

Look I don't want to alarm you, but I used to moan all the time as a child about having a tummy ache, and my mum used to think I was making it up because it was true that I didn't like school. Anyhow over the years I became accustomed to having the stomach pains and apart from the occasional bad bout I coped pretty well, but at 30 years old I started getting blood in my stools and was diagnosed with ulcerative Colitis. I'm NOT saying your son has this, but I sure wish I could have avoided ending up with it and who knows if a good doctor had seen me as a child I might not have.

Just a thought.

BTW does he moan about his knees and elbows? Joint pain is associated with digestive disorders.

I would take him straight to the Doc if it continues to happen......It could be so many things! And if he is in so much pain that he's moaning....I would take him ASAP. It couldn't be that he doesn't want to go to school or something though?
