It's the proper English word for the deity held by monotheistic faiths. So God is just named after what he is, like calling your dog Dog.

It is just a Translation from the original languages. It is translated so we could read the bible, BUT one has to be careful of the translations out there. They are only as good as the one doing the translations have understanding. Man is fallible.
