Give him time to nurse his wounds. He is probably feeling a big ego crush right now. In time he should get over your saying no. If he was only hanging out with you as your friend because he was waiting for his chance, it wasn't that true of a friendship anyway.

That was a strange reaction. Is your friend a druggie? Is he going to turn into one because he's your b/f? Do you really have that effect on guys? If so, then it's probably best that you never talk to him again. Or, you could call him and apologize...

this proves once again to all you ladies out there.. THE ONLY REASON A GUY IS A FRIEND TO A WOMAN IS BECAUSE HE LIKES YOU!
He's upset with you because he's built you up to be this picture perfect woman in his mind and he already loves you as a friend. Right now he's hurt and embarrassed.
Basically if you are not ready for him, just let him be. If he wants to date you that badly he'll wait.. he already has for 3 years

The guy feels deathly rejected. It took him 3 years to muster up the courage to ask you out.
I know this isn't what you want to hear, but if you aren't and do not see yourself ever getting interested in him, you got to let him know somehow and cut the poor guy loose. Otherwise, you can assure him that you didn't reject him, but that may string the guy along.
Be honest. Even if it's hard. It's best in the long run.

Ok. You cannot judge him for mistakes of past boyfriends. He is his own person. If you don't want to get with him at all, let him know. If you do, but aren't sure about him, give him a chance at least. He spilled his guts to you, so if you want to be with him, spill yours. You gotta talk to him though. Either way let him know, don't leave him hangin.

Explain to him why you don't want to be in a relationship now and go out just to have fun. Just because you go out with some one doesn't mean you;ll be getting engaged on your next date

Wait for him to realize that he is being childish.
You can't let someone pressure you into a relationship. It really is a bummer that you are having to be without your friend....because he is pouting.
But, if you need your space....then you need your space. He has to understand that. If he can't.....then it's his loss.
I'm sorry. And, I hope this all works out.
Good luck!

tell him you need to see him- talk to him face - to - face. Explain to him that you value your friendship so much and that you wouldnt want to spoil it...maybe become more intimate with him but being in 'relationship' with your frame of mind could have negative results.
I really hope this helps....talk to him, tell him your exact thoughts and explain how you would hate to lose him through it!

How selfish is this guy!!! If he cant be supportive of you and understand what you have been through I would give him the flick! You need time and if he won't help you say bye bye to him.
