Even though, I think that out of all the careers, those in
law enforcement know everything about relationships,
they are so often around what happens when one goes
wrong, that they are the best people to ask.......................

We know everything about relationships? We have the number 1 divorce rate in any career. Cops in general are conditioned to hide feelings and curtail emotions. It is a necessity when dealing with horrific stuff. The bad part is we usually don't know how to turn it off when with the "regular" public or our families. It is not that we don't have feelings but letting them surface is something we don't do easily. Usually it takes a divorce or 2 to make us realize that we need to allow others in once in a while. I wouldn't call it getting "cross" when approached, I would call it being defensive.
