It will be very hard while you are still taking them. I also am on them with a lot of other meds that cause weight gain. I am disabled and cannot exercise to help with the weight loss, so it is a tough job to manage your weight. Good luck with this. About the only thing you can do is try to watch what you eat and exercise. Also talk with your doctor about your concern and he may be able to help you. Whatever you do, DO NOT take anything to help you lose weight while you are on the meds, it may have an adverse effect that could harm you.

The best solution for your problem of depression & weight gain is simply doing the following yoga exercise which not only reduce your weight but also control your mind to maximum peace.

1. Arathamathesendrasan (reduces the folds on the side)
2. bhujangasan ( reduces the fat & creases on the back)
3. halasan ( flexes the muscles & reduces the creases)
4. dhanurasan ( flexes the muscles & reduces the creases)
5. sarvangasan ( controls the whole body to perfection)
6. mathsyasan ( increases the chest & reduces the stomach)
7. nauli kriya ( the best for stomach)
8. mayurasan ( very difficult but best for the belly )
9. bhastrika pranayanam ( breathing exercise, very best and must as this controls BP, prevent lung diseases, increases the brain power, will never get cough or cold and controls your anger and other violent emotions, brings in crimson complextion to the face etc,etc Very good for treating depression)
10. sevasan. ( This is the last exercise and this removes all the stress and strain of all the above exercises & good for relieving depression)

Do all these exercises every day in the morning before breakfast and after nature calls because both your stomach & intestines should be empty while you do this . Do it regularly for 1 month with confidence

THIS WILL NOT BE EASY, NOR FUN TO HEAR.....

But the ONLY way you can lose the weight is if you excercise and diet. I myself am diabetic, and in December of 2004 I weighed in at a little over 400 pounds standing six foot one. When I found out I was diabetic, I didn't have many options - I was overweight, I suffered from sleep apnea, severe hypoxia, pedal edema, congestive heart failure (CGF), a rotated pelvic bone, and aggravate arthritis (as of this time, the only thing improved is the hypoxia and pedal edema).

I was dying - in more ways than one - and I had only one choice - get rid of the weight or die. So I started walking, at first only small distances, since walking caused pain by itself. I couldn't walk more than half a block without taking a 15 minute break. But I kept going. Now I can walk for 4 hours straight, almost 4 miles nonstop (although usually not by choice). But I can do it. And I've lost 120 pounds, down to 285 at this time.

The best way to change your diet?

EAT LESS BREAD PRODUCTS AND STARCHY FOODS

These are the REAL culprits in why most diets fail. Too much bread and starchy foods make you gain weight - why? Because they all become SUGAR after you eat them. And don't eat them after 5 to 6 in the evening, or they will still be digesting when you wake up in the morning - if you need a bedtime snack, have some fruit, fresh vegetables, a SMALL piece of cheese, or even a small bowl of nuts (cashews, walnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, pumpkin seeds, pistachios, but MAKE SURE THEY'RE UNSALTED AND NOT FLAVORED).

FOODS TO STAY AWAY FROM.....

BREAD (small amounts during day - none after 5pm)
MUFFINS
CAKES
CEREALS
DINNER ROLLS
PASTAS
RICE
BURRITO AND TACO SHELLS
ANYTHING THAT IS A BREAD OR FLOUR PRODUCT

Starchy foods are bad too....
RICE (as above)
BEANS
CORN
BANANAS (full of starch AND potassium - makes you retain water)
POTATOES

Keep these things in mind, and by making yourself excercise - even if it's nothing but walking, but you have to PUSH yourself (not a lot, but slowly increase it) and you WILL lose weight.

I love my wife and son, and my wife wants to have another child - so I have had to learn these things the hard way - I pray that you listen, and put these words to good use. Good Luck.

Its possible but very hard to do. Make sure you talk to your doctor about the weight gain.the best thing to do is exercise.Find something you enjoy doing. I take a walk around the park everyday with my 4 year old.Drink lots of water .An watch what you eat. Alot of meds contain an ingredient that makes you gain more weight if you eat alot of breads and pastas.

Yes, it is possible to lose some of the extra weight by eating sensibly and exercising.
I actually lost a lot of weight during my first few weeks of taking antidepressants and gained lots more in the following few months, then I lost weight again after the therapy was finished, etc... I suppose it depends also on what exactly you take.

I cannot communicate for all of them, but the ones who binge and purge come to be ejecting 1/2 the remedy each time they do it, so it under no circumstances accumulates in their bodies. I guess these are bulimics, though. Anyway, i wonder if most anorexics take their meds the way in which they're speculated to, peculiarly in the event that they know it would result in weight obtain. I feel if I have been anorexic, i would not take a med that will make me fats. Love, Jack.

yes you can lose the weight or a greater portion of it.you will have to work alittle harder than someone not on any med.'s.the older you are the harder it will become.if you have had children or any cesareans it will be more difficult to tighten those stomach muscles.the abs and arms and neck are the easiest.even legs and hips arent so bad.all anti-depressant med.'s slow your metabalism down causing weight to add up quickly.i gained 70 lb.s in 3 months and has taken me a yr to lose 35.i have a bone disease,so the sit ups and ab work were alittle difficult.i did not give,so PLEASE don't you give up.you will likke the results in awhile.GOOD LUCK

i won't be in a position to communicate for all of them, yet people who binge and purge finally end up ejecting 0.5 the medicine each and every time they do it, so it by no potential accumulates of their bodies. i assume those are bulimics, however. besides, i ponder whether maximum anorexics take their meds the way they're meant to, tremendously in the event that they know it would bring about weight income. i assume if I have been anorexic, i would not take a med that could make me fat. Love, Jack.
