You should be walking the dog not following after the dog. First his leash should be short enough that he doesn't have the ability to walk where ever he wants. Next you walk and the dog follows. He doesn't have a choice. If he is sitting down and will not move, do not pull the dog because that is the reason they resist.

The dog has learned that if he does not want to leave, he can tell you this and clearly you will stay there for hours. The issue of dominance has occured in all areas and you need to address who is in charge. Become the pack leader. Work on making your dog submit, not letting him be taller than you, and not letting him boss you around in the house as well.

Perhaps your dog sees that you are ignoring him and have your laptop out so he is unaware that ignoring him and playing on your laptop means that you are ready to leave. Put your laptop away, hold your head up. Walk confidently away with the leash, calling him. He will follow.

Of direction it can be the right factor. Suppose in the event you lost your dog, or kid, you could possibly be worried unwell questioning what happened to it. Dogs at the present time are substitutes for children. I've lost 2 of my cats for days at a time however they each got here again via some miracle. As for the canine discovering his way again, that's extremely unlikely to highly doubtful. If he had already wandered about half a mile that tells me that he traditionally hasn't been let off leash before so he's more concerned with new scents then remembering landmarks and find out how to follow his trail again house. I'm glad that it was through woods, imagine if it was once busy roads or teach tracks, the dog would most commonly be dead. Could have gotten hit in the event you failed to decide on it up either. Thank the homeowners for hanging tags on the dog and thank you for being a excellent Samaritan and calling the homeowners, you probably did what most others would not.

I would suggest short leashing him and/or picking him up..if you pull him enough he will go either way reward him AFTER he's moved
