Unfortunately, in Turkey they don't understand yet that gay people are just normal and innocent people too. That's why gays try to hide themselves, in general...
But in Bodrum, it's quite different. It's very open-minded in this little city...And there are a lot of Englishmen who have bought homes and pubs there, and there a lot of tourists from England, Germany,Holland,etc...So I think you can enjoy this place,no problem...
The real estate in this city is very expansive now, because there is a spirit similar to Ibiza and Saint-Tropez, and it became a city for rich people, even jet-set people.
Many turkish stars and businessmen own houses there.
And I've heard that even Elton John ( who is gay too), bought a villa in Bodrum.

I am English and live in Bodrum .I am not gay .What some people say is correct you should be careful about kissing in public etc.
Bodrum is most probably the most cosmopolitan town in Turkey .It is the place where a lot of Turkish poets,actors and other celebrities holiday and many are gay.There is even transsexuals and transvestites who walk who walk around quiet openly without problems .
If you are careful not to upset any of the local macho men you should be okay here.

I m not sure, may be there are some.
And do not hesitate, u can visit all the bars in Bodrum, there will not be any problem if u r a gay.

i got 2 very good friends they have been beaten near to death only cause of other men saw them kiss each other...in the nite they found themselves in the middle of a gang and were beaten like they are gangstas or terrorists...

Be very careful in Turkey if you are gay.
There are many groups there who oppose this unnatural practice and you are likely to get a good kicking or worse if you ask "Where's the local gay bar".
They are homophobic and very violent - be warned.
