Someone was wrong if they say that God does not punish. Of course God punishes people.

Yes, that's what scripture said, but man does that to himself. We know the punishment and if we go against what God says, then we get the punishment. It doesn't matter how we feel or what we believe, the law of God is the only thing that counts.

Yes you are correct,God does punish us for our collective sin against Him and Humanity,Biblical evidence upholds this and even some modern theologians say that wars are a punishment from God to halt the great rising tide of sin and disobedience.
I think we have to view this punishment mostly for our own good and that Gods justice is always right and proper.

The real problem with the Cain story is no where in the bible prior to him killing his brother did this God ever say DO NOT KILL!
There was no law at all given by this God yet this God sees fit to condemn the whole world as wicked and commit genocide TWICE (The Flood & Sodom and Gomorrah) Then top it all off with the slaughter of innocent babies!

After all this a command is given of THOU SHALT NOT KILL!
But then two chapters later it is written THOU SHALT NOT SUFFER A WITCH TO LIVE! Clearly saying KILL!

THE BIBLE IS FULL OF ERRORS!
IT IS A STUPID MAN MADE BOOK!

God does punish. Those who do not believe in God/Jesus receive the punishment of Hell. They will be judged and God will turn them away, they will go to Hell and never come over to Heaven's side and us in Heaven cannot go over to Hell's side. This is the eternal punishment, and it does exist, those who do not believe it will soon find out. God bless you, take care.

Because he gave his only son to forgive all of our sins. It wouldn't make no sense if he did punish us because, what will be the purpose of the death of his only son Jesus Christ.
