There are several different drugs a doctor can prescribe for HIV patients.

The most commonly ordered drugs for HIV I see at my hospital are:
Zidovudine - brand name: Retrovir (also known as AZT)
Lamivudine - brand name: Epivir
Emtricitabine - brand name: Emtriva
Tenofovir - brand name: Viread
Efavirenz - brand name: Sustiva
Ritonavir - brand name: Norvir
Nelfinavir - brand name: Viracept
Lopinavir - brand name: Kaletra

Every hospital, doctor, and patient are different though. So, what works for some patients may not work for others.
