According to TFL it's been successful. As a motorcyclist it's encouraging to see that despite a 15% increase in 2 wheelers in the zone since 2003 accidents have actually fallen. In fact accidents have fallen for all categories of vehicle.
Simple answer get a bike & start campaigining for more bike parking spaces which have been totally inadequate for years.
Remember that the money raised by congestion charging is going towards improvements in public transport, not to central government.
Other solution, don't commute into London! Get a job somewhere else.

Money, all the way. Much of Central London's traffic is artificially created. I distinctly remember one day a couple of years ago. I was driving around London, and it seemed much easier to get around than normal. There was still plenty of traffic but most sets of lights were green and I made my usual journeys in much quicker time than normal. At the time I thought it strange but I was pleasantly surprised so I gave no more thought to it.
The next day, I discovered that the Olympic Committee had been visiting London, assessing the transport and road infrastructure as part of the 2012 bid.
It is particularly bad just outside the current congestion charging zone, where traffic lights are phased in such a way that when you enter the C-Zone it appears that the traffic is flowing easier.
It is on the basis of this clever scam that Livingstone has decreed the C-Charge a success and justified its imminent extension.

I think it's just another moneymaking scam, but I don't live in London. My brother lives in London and he says it has reduced traffic but that has resulted in more people on a public transport system that cannot cope. I also think it puts people off visiting London. I don't visit as much as I used to and the last time I did I saved up and went by plane, which I know is wrong as it's even worse for the environment than driving.

Do not blame this on Red Ken. Remember that the Americans have voted one Socialist into their National Congress and he
represents Socialism generally. All the others voted in are Capitalist and represent American Capitalism. Of the two which was more to blame for the loss and suffering of so many brave
men of UK in Iraq? Or was no-bid contracts just another way of money extracting money? I didn't see Red Ken throwing UK troops into Iraq. Tell me who did it for the money.

I was against it at first, but after seeing how it worked I changed my mind. I am retired and comfortably off, so I can drive into town easily, find somewhere to park, do some shopping leaving it locked in the boot, meet friends for lunch and see a movie or exhibition in the afternoon. A great day out - thanks ken.
I find it highly amusing that it takes a socialist politician to know what the rich want and how to give it to them.

The charge should be extended to all of London. Motorists are like junkies, addicted to their cars. I hate it when they wail about how 'persecuted' they are. How about everyone else who has to suffer the congestion. pollution and financial cost that unrestricted car use entails?
