-> I got this new 120 GB HD and installed windowsXP SP2 without making any kind of partion or

formatting. my user name was stated as paradox_effect with no one else as any user and mine being

the administrator. Now I made this image of a couple of CD's and stored them on the hard drive. I

also made their folder along with the files in it encrypted by going in the properties section of

the folder and clicking on the advanced tab and choosing between compress and encryption.
Now a problem occured and the windows use to restart while loading so I installed the windowsXP

SP2 again without formatting or deleting the pervious windows folder with my new user name stated

as para. now the recently installed windows was working perfectly.
But I was not comfortable with using the name para as a user name, as the first windows was still

not working and I wanted my name back as paradox_effect. So I deleted the first windows file with

user name as Paradox_efect, and again for the third time installed windows as my name

paradox_effect. But now I was unable to remove the property of the encryption from the files as

they won't burn on the cd unless there encryption is removed.
And I do not have any copy.
Please help. this is no joke though all this may sound strange.
U ppl can post any questions in the answer section I will re-post my query again in a beter form

with more details if required.

Boot your PC and watch the screen carefully - you'll need to be quick. Poise your finger over the F8 key. The screen will refresh from self check to device list, AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLANK FROM DEVICE LIST, HIT F8.

This will take you into the boot options screen. Using the down arrow key, highlight Safe Mode and hit enter. When Windows loads, log in as administrator. Open explorer or my computer and find your files. Right click them and select properties in the pop-up menu.

In the properties dialog, click the advanced button in the small dialog that appears, uncheck the encryption option and click ok. Close all dialogs and log out. Re-boot the PC, when Windows loads, you should be able to access the files.

In future, use restore points - start>all programs> accessories> system tools>system restore - to set a point where everything is working normally - use it BEFORE installing stuff. When the window opens, the default option is "Restore my computer to an earlier time" click the radio button to "create a new restore point" and click next. In the next screen you have the option of typing a name for the restore point - do so if you wish, then click the create button.

While big c is correct in what he says, recovery will only work provided: a) your subsequent windows installations were placed into a different folder or b) you opted to save your previous installations (in which case, you would simply roll-back to a previous installation).

Dear,, only one who encrypt the folder he will be able to discrypte it, try to login with your old account and go to folder option and clear check that encrypt the folder, if you are not able to do so, login again with administrator account agent and clear check box for encrypt.
this the only way to do so, some steps for how to import and export encryption certificate to administrator agent account look at it with microsoft website.

First place you are all screwed up with your question.

Anyway, when you boot up, hit f10 and do a RECOVERY and erase all data and then this time get your name straight.

You are like everyone else that do not want to learn. Bookmark the URLs and they have topics on about the computer.

basically you need to log in as an administrator, not para, then right click on the alleged file, and u will need to click properties, then somewhere on there will be an ownership flag, you will then need to change that to para (or whatever) then it all be fine

(possibly need to do it in safe mode, i cant remember)
