A better solution then vet meds which can have nasty side effects, is something called Rescue Remedy. Its by Bachs Flower Essences and its works miracle to calm your kitty. You can buy it at any natural food store. Two drops on the tongue should do it to knock her out for a few hours.

We took our cat on a 2000 mile move in the car, we just put a litter tray on the front driver floor (we took two cars) and dry food and water, and let him lay where he wanted to, which was mostly up on the back window or on a folded doona (comforter), he was a bit agitated for the first half hour then no problems. More recently I moved had to travel 10 hours, with different cats, one meowed for about 300kms, then settled, the other one settled about 15 mins after journey started. My son travelled by plane to visit me with his cat, in a cat cage in cargo hold, the cat was fine; my son wanted to give him sedative but the vet advised against it, he said that it could have adverse effects on the animal, he suggested that initially the cat would be agitated(as mine were to begin with) then it would settle. When he came off the plane, he was fine looked around and then went back to sleep. I think perhaps you could start out with the cat in a cage, then after awhile when it settles down, let it out to sleep on the seat if you are travelling by car. Hope that this is any help to you.
Cheers, and good luck.

YES, they can give your cat pills for that need. Talk to them, the vet. They'll let you know.
